Fortunately for McCrory, he should have a spot lined up for him in the Trump administration soon, his type of sleaziness is what The Donald calls "talent."

I'm very curious about how this works with the NC Constitution.

Kind of reminds me of Harry Reid's nuclear option, which came back to bite him and the Democrats in the ass. The only difference is that the North Carolina reduction in power effects only North Carolina, while the nuclear option's reduction in Senatorial power effects EVERYONE.

I'm more curious if this is the first of its kind for a state level? Is it unprecedented?

I don't really see that it backfired. It was an option available to any Senate majority willing to cross the line. If Reid hadn't crossed it, do you think McConnell wouldn't do so now?

I'm not even sorry. I don't really care to see a Senate minority causing an appointment backup for the Trump Administration that would be a total distraction from their advise and consent role. With filibuster on the table, Republicans would be focused on party unity and pushing nominations through, vetting be damned. Take it off the table and Republicans can join an honest debate about whether these guys should be in role. I don't want to see political scores settled here.

At this point, I just want to see Congress work rather than sit on their asses and point fingers.

The idea that votes don't count and both parties are the same has been cynically baked in the voting public for too long.

Elections should have rewards and consequences other than the ruling class

What's less surprising... it being North Carolina, or it being republicans?

Same kind of **** Republicans did in Wisconsin when they lost the governorship. In fact it was probably a trial run for every other Republican led legislature in the country.
