I made that same mental comparison several times this past season. Those guys can rake.

Yuli's younger. However old he says he is, he's still younger than Franco. Nobody knows how old those guys actually are.

Their vigorously, aggressive swings are eerily similar

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s the Rockets owned Texas. With Bagwell and Biggio the Astros owned Texas baseball.

But Duncan and Nowistski owned the past 15-19 years of basketball in the state.

And since the 2005 Astros World Series, the Rangers made themselves a perennial contender going to 2 World Series themselves.

Likewise, the Astros fell on such hard times they were the absolute mockery of all of baseball. And even when the Astros figured out the league, the Rangers had their number up until last season.

The Dallas fans were not kind to the Houston sports demise. Now the tide turned, and the Astros played and won a World Series for the Ages.

Not Very Bold Prediction of the Day:
Astros will have more postseason victories as an AL team before being in the AL a decade than the Rangers will have in their existence.

Texas Rangers have 21 Post season wins.

NL Astros had 19 Post season wins.

AL Astros have 14 Post season wins.

And at this point they are considered top 3 to win the WS next season. :)

I knew the Rangers were an also ran for most of their existence, but 1 playoff win in their first 50 years as a franchise is pretty damn sad. Didn't make the playoffs until their 35 year.

I thought our history was sad.

Up until the late 90's the creature "hardcore Rangers fan" was spoken of in the same terms as the chupacabra, bigfoot, and humble Cowboys fan.

Much like us and Atlanta, they got good at the same time as the Yankees dynasty.

Trades change everything. When Cole Hamelswas traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Texas Rangers in 2015, he and his wife Heidi had been building a mansion near Branson, Missouri, in an area called Table Rock Lake. Once the family made the move to Texas, they decided that’s where they wanted to live full time. So what about the $9.75 million house they’d been building?

Cole and Heidi finally found something to do with it. Instead of selling it, they’ve donated it to a Branson-area non-profit organization called Camp Barnabas. Camp Barnabas offers day camp programs for kids with chronic illnesses and special needs, matching each camper with their own volunteer and offering scholarships so no kid is turned away. And to make sure they can accommodate every kid regardless of any kind of need, they have a full medical facility on staff with doctors and nurses.

    OK, that's really cool.

Can I still hate him? While he pitches?

Although I will say, "Branson, Missouri" says a lot about their level of civilization.

Had to laugh at Evan Grant on High Heat.... Dude was saying how mediocre the Astros were for the past 4 years outside of their World Series win and the Rangers don't want to follow that path. From 2015 on, the Astros were competing for the playoffs. I have to laugh at these Arlington guys.

4 years prior to World Series win, Astros, 3 postseason victories. Rangers, 2 postseason victories.

but but their record was better overall during those 4 years. I think they had like 361 wins to like 301 losses.

The Rangers are on the Astros from 2006-2011 path. Try to piece together a moderately competent roster with overpriced vets on the downside of their careers and a mediocre or worse farm system after having traded away most of their good pieces.

If they don't want to go on the path that's led to an actual World Series Championship, fine with me.
