My comment was in response to a post about a guy taking a job as assistant GM in Cleveland. A guy that was never on the radar for a GM job yet we look at it as him picking Cleveland over Houston. That doesn't make sense. That's like saying the Wal-Mart cachet chose a cashier jib over being a manager at Target.

How come you think Rick Smith is the reason they don't want to come here? It would make more sense if you said Bill OBrien, who they will have to work with from day one, was the reason. Smells like hate to me.

It's not actually -- unless they're related to each other somehow.

My issue is why only interview an in house guy + a guy that worked for you in the past?
the Giants interviewed 6 Potential coaching candidates (I would want to interview as many possible to see what they think about the organization? see what we need to do to fix the issues (hear the outside people ideas)
I really hope they wait to interview Nick Caseiro, Joe Douglas (At least)

Well they did try to interview other guys but their current employers refused.

LOL, he interviewed for SF and IND GM jobs just last year.

He was Director of Football Operations for the Packers with 14 years scouting college and pro.

Rick Smith looks like he's been training to pull a Kill Bill (no pun intended) and get his revenge on B'OB lmao

Good for him. Hope his wife fully recovers.

Cancer is just awful. One of my sons close friends just died and the 30 y.o. daughter of a friend is in critical condition. She has 3 young children. Her husband is awesome.

Really want to know the real story. Some of the reports were pretty bad. Remember the showdown that was supposed to happen in front of McNair?

Maybe he can find a job back in Denver.

Also, I thought he was still employed with the Texans and he said at the time he would be back?

He finally got us a qb for the first time ever so I’ll always be thankful for Rick. His mid round drafting sucked but his 1st round picks were damn good (minus Kevin Johnson)

    Anyone know why this happened:

"I stepped aside, they summarily replaced most of our football operations. They fired a ton of people, so it looks like Bill got rid of me. And that’s not true.”

Just piecing things together from Rick saying that there was tension between them and their relationship is "fine", and Billy O saying the other day at the luncheon that he and Gaine are fully on the same page and a good friend, pretty much tells me all I need to know about them. They hate each other and I would too- they both entered the rat race and one rat found the cheese. One just has to accept that he had his chance and ran his course, but being mediocre for 10 years was not the answer. Time will tell on the other.
His title now is full-time godfather and it is still a salary position with full benefits.

It was always weird that Kubiak got fired without Rick and that O'Brien didn't get to bring his own GM. Some teams have a strong GM that is in control but that was never Rick.

Unless it’s some big name coach, the GM usually gets hired and then hires the coach. The whole timeline is weird.
