Rockets should have some reasonable fall back targets. Ross can handle ball and create his own shot and is exactly the 3-D player that would flourish in Rockets system. Essentially a longer, younger EGo. 6-7, 210 - 2013 slam dunk champ 38% from beyond arc last season, 37% career https://hoopshabit-com.cdn.ampproje.../15/orlando-magic-need-re-sign-terrence-ross/
He is erratic, but I will settle for him if he is willing to come to Houston. A rich man's Danuel House.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors target Ross with their T-MLE. They can offer a starting spot with Thompson out for most of the year.
Is he a good defender though? Seriously asking, the guy has talent but kinda strikes as a Gerald Green type of player.
I've seen enough of him to say at the very least he's not a liability on defense. He gives you high energy and effort on that end and a lot of times that's sufficient. Offensively, he is def a Gerald Green type. If the ball gets to him you better believe he's letting it fly.
Not going to move the needle. Maybe a game here and there in the regular season but is no difference maker come playoff time
Would take him but must note: - He's barely longer than EGO. Trex arms. Has disproportionately short arms while ego has long arms for his height. - below average defender, which is a result of his short arms and inability to focus for long stretches. Commits stupid fouls often. As for his strengths, he's an incredible shooter. Requires little space and time to drop bombs from distance. At the MLE I don't see him as an addition as much as I see him as a cheaper Gordon replacement who allows us to go after bigger fish with Gordon's contract without losing much. As a personal preference though, I prefer to spend the MLE on a C. Lots of starter quality ones available and we need a legit C who can shoot urgently. I want better wing players but I think we're more likely to acquire one with Capela contract than with Gordon. Would much rather pick up Kevon Looney for MLE. His PASSING and defense took a giant turn upward, has great experience. We can probably price him away from the Warriors. Sufficient for a starting C these days, could have range on his shot soon. I think he's highly underrated, I was not paying attention to him.
I like the idea of a Horford for Capela swap http://tradenba.com/trades/BygWQMEJH Only thing is Horford salary is so high
We may have even fewer options than him without a trade. DM should try to persuade Rivers to re-sign with the team, and then move Gordon/ Capela with Clark/Hart for a bigger piece if possible.
McGee is a good option, I'm just desperate for another dimension from our C spot, even if it makes taking a small hit defensively!
he makes more than the full non-taxpayer MLE now. he's gonna look for a raise or at the very least sign for the full non-taxpayer MLE which the rockets are probably not going to do (hard cap us while pushing us very close to the apron). I think carrol, muscala, j.holiday, Scott, hood, bullock, Ellington, vonleh, rivers, and Markieff are taxpayer MLE targets at the 2-4 positions who can help us.
