At the very least not make moves that your own DOD and military are taken off guard with.... What’s the rush to move them out immediately?
It fits the philosophy well enough: "Upon this, one has to remark that men ought either to be well treated or crushed, because they can avenge themselves of lighter injuries, of more serious ones they cannot; therefore the injury that is to be done to a man ought to be of such a kind that one does not stand in fear of revenge." "Severities should be dealt out all at once, so that their suddenness may give less offense; benefits should be conferred gradually, and in that way they will taste better." At any rate, since the withdraw is basically done, we'll see what happens. We might even end up trying to stop a full blown war between Turkey and Syria.
Yes, Machiavellian philosophy advocates cruelty to keep the populace in check in the context of Renaissance society where such was the norm everywhere and I'm not here to defend that terrible worldview and its gruesome practices. That much I will concede. However, you just advocated in the 21st century to commit war crimes and mass murder against war prisoners, and that I find quite disturbing and appalling. There is no modern political philosophy outside of 3rd world despots and war criminals who would advocate for such practices. In short, bombing ISIS prisoners is completely off the table.
Hey, Mitch, work with Nancy and get this corrupt idiot out of power. You can still have Pence and we can at least have a legitimate foreign strategy instead of the bow down and take it up the a$$ strategy we have now.
People speak about the "morality" of killing them but what about the "morality" of placing hardcore radical Jihadists who have committed some of the most depraved crimes in human history, or willingly joined an organization that does and who are willing to commit those crimes, back into the worlds population? Because if you don't kill them, either through the justice system or outside of it, that is what you will do. I find it quite disturbing these people are going to be released back into the population. I'd like to see Iraq/Syria place these a**holes on trial, convict them and put them to death. I Imagine the Syrian/Iraqi justice systems are a bit more lax in their rules of evidence and civil procedure and the punishments are probably fairly more draconian then Western ones. These ISIS prisoners clearly do not qualify for any type of international POW protections (before anyone tries to make that argument). If you want to either 1) actively participate in an organization that enslaves, rapes, murders, loots and tortures or 2) join an organization that does, It's totally fine with me if your life is forfeit.
Agreed. Military tribunals and death sentences for ISIS are absolutely the right thing to do. However, the argument here was about bombing the prison, which is a WAR CRIME regardless of how you feel about their status as non-POWs under traditional definitions. Also, many of these prisoners are foreign fighters who joined from all over the world. Their native countries do not want them back for due process hence they are being kept in Kudish prisons awaiting their fate.
You expect them to comment on every event that happens in the world? Only basketball coaches should have to do that.
