Can't really ever defeat this ideology -- it's held by millions of people in the region. I'm down with a complete withdraw in both Syria and Iraq with a travel ban for both nations.

Officials Say Trump Has Ordered Full Withdrawal of U.S. Troops From Syria

President Trump has ordered a rapid withdrawal of all 2,000 United States ground troops from Syria within 30 days, declaring the four-year American-led war against the Islamic State as largely won, officials said Wednesday.

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” the president said in a Twitter post on Wednesday morning. He offered no details on his plans for the military mission, nor a larger strategy, in Syria.

Truly a great move if it happens.
Trump deserves two Nobel prizes for this tweet alone.

    Good.
Hopefully all the Syrians and all those pretending to be Syrians will get back from where they came from.

I don't really have a big problem with him withdrawing from Syria. We should not have been involved. But, let's be honest here. We're withdrawing from Syria because it is now a client-state of Russia and we got pushed out as decision-makers.

Good, that's a start, now withdraw them from Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, the UK, Spain and Afghanistan and you're getting some where.

Pelosi ties Syria Troop Withdrawal to sentencing hearing of his former national-security adviser, Michael Flynn.

“It is premature for the President to declare a sweeping victory against ISIS when, just a few weeks ago,
our military led more than 250 coalition-conducted airstrikes against targets in Iraq and Syria,” Pelosi said

“All Americans should be concerned that this hasty announcement was made on the day after sentencing in criminal proceedings began
against the President’s former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who admitted that he was a registered foreign agent for a country (Turkey) with clear interests in the Syrian conflictr

I’m glad we are doing it.

Seems like a strange platform to announce the decision though

Isn’t Hezbollah fighting ISIS in Syria, and is that not a good thing?

The way these career politicians and bureaucrats tell it, US presence is needed everywhere on the planet or else we're all going to die.

I'd expect the likely outcome to be that Russia can engage their much more "open" rules of engagement to purge whats left of ISIS and consolidates Assad's rule, it doesn't create a power vacuum issue like happened in Iraq.

Russia isn't even a real geopolitical threat like the Soviets were, it's a failing empire that can still be a nuisance, the only geopolitical threat the US has is China, so outside a direct threat like ISIS, it doesn't make a whole deal of sense long term for the US to be fighting a minnow as though it was still a whale.

Can't fight every potential enemy, everywhere, always, need to be more selective about the battles. That said, i wouldn't put it past the oaf to simply back track.

Yesterday: trump announces we are pulling it Syria because isis is defeated. Russia publicly supports it, the republicans and some democrats go nuts.

Today: trump says fake news because Russia is mad we are pulling out because now they have to fight isis alone.

The same isis that is is already defeated?
