I think thibs is forgetting the fact that Butler has to agree to an extension if he is going to a new team. Any team can get Butler but he may not want to sign with any team.
Tucker's decline is near and concerning, but there's no indication that Butler would be here past one season anyway.
If we trade gordon for essentially Winslow and a contract you'll probably be in the majority of those disappointed with the deal. But if Winslow stays healthy you'll change on that at some point.
I'm hoping Jimmy B plays in Minny this season. He is going to ruin Minny's season and have a lesser value in the trade-market. Unless Minny does him bad by keeping him for the season, letting him rot. There is no way they can compete for a championship with a fragmented team.
The "indication" would be the trade executing. That would indicate to me that Morey, Paul, Harden and Tilman all discussed the trade (as we know they do), and agreed to do it only if Tilman knows he will outbid NY/LA with his Bird Rights. That's why I fear Tucker's decline more than I would fear Tilman making a trade then reneging on the max. I don't fear that, because I don't think Morey and Tilman would do a 1yr rental ... and Tilman simply would not let an LA/NY team outbid him, anyhow. That's not his style. anyhoot: I'm just discussing my fears, in order to relieve yours.
