Hey guys, I've recently decided to take an interest in American football, and have signed up for a team here in Australia. (kinda like NFL level, but better )

I'm gonna be playing WR, any tips/advice for a noob? or basic tricks for a WR to learn?

I'm excited but apprehensive, it's a whole new experience for me!

Make sure you spend lots of time rehearsing your touchdown dances.

What kind of football? Tackle? Flag?

Can you hit some brothers coming off the line?

Look it in every time, never turn your focus downfield until you've secured the ball.

    Don't be afraid to block.

    Run every route full speed.

Never let a dback outwork you for a ball.

Go to Youtube. Search "Jacoby Jones." Don't do any of that. Good start.

The most important thing as a WR, is RUN YOUR ROUTE. If you want to continue playing, make sure you run your route exactly like you are supposed to. If your route is a 8 and out, run the full 8 yards, plant, and make a sharp cut to the sideline. Don't run 6 and run a big ass curve. There are plenty of guys in the NFL with speed, but you will see the guys who make careers out of it are great route runners.

And catch it. I cant stand dropped passes.

Use your eyes and head to sell the fake when running routes, and set up the defender.

Always run 100% even if you know you will not get the ball. This will give a better chance for your team as a whole to successfully make a completion and also if the play falls apart, you are a viable option to keep the play alive.

    1. Cry when defending your Quarterback.
    2. Getcha popcorn ready.
    3. Keep trying out for teams after you're washed up.

    1. Take some plays off.
    2. Wipe your behind on the goal post after scoring a touchdown.
    3. Don't respect anyone on your team, including the coach.

If I were in Australia, I would go Rugby over the other American Football clones they have there.

Catch with your hands, not with your body.

Don't play football, it is a violent and dangerous game that could lead you to getting seriously hurt. I participated in flag football once and broke my nose.

Learn to control the ball with your feet. Never try to handle the ball with your hand, as that can result in a yellow card.

And don't tackle with your boots up. Keep it clean and watch out for the offside trap.

When catching the ball, put your hands in a diamond shape, like this:

This is the best way to catch a ball. Make sure to catch it WITH YOUR HANDS away from your chest, don't try to use your chest to trap a ball or anything like that, always just use your hands.
