It all circles back to the glorious commissar. You can't touch Maduro or else: "Nice tanning machine you have there trump, it would be a shame if something malfunctioned." in russian of course.

Why bother? Let them continue to starve till they realize that socialism is stupid and the inevitable capitalist revolution will happen.

Why don't we let Venezuela and their near neighbors solve their own problems? The last thing we need is another war that drains us of our resources and weakens our military, especially considering the increasing threat posed by Russia in Europe and China in the Western Pacific. I would be all for supplying large amounts of aid to Venezuela if there were a change of government in the country. The current one is corrupt and is busy oppressing the people. Giving aid to them would simply be lining their pockets.

Only if the economy tanks and everyone realizes we can't pay our debts.

Nothing like killing and uprooting foreigner families to wash away the troubles at home.

When you have a corrupt and oppressing government in your own country, why bother to aid, actually to destroy, someone else's country?

Is that kind of like asking why, when a human has a corrupt and terrible relationship at home, would that human go have an affair? If so, it's a dumb question, LOL.

I’ve been seeing a Venezuelan girl and she said she would wear an “I love you Trump” shirt if he bombed Maduro’s house lol.

I would love to see that govt overthrown but not by us. It’s a ****ing disaster down there.

If we do invade Venezuela, I'd like to have former White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen serve on the front lines.

    GOOD DAY

Id love to see that govt out of power but I don't think we're the ones to do it. As we saw in Iraq we are very bad at building govts. I'm all for American interventionism but I don't see how we benefit the situation by it.

it is more like when a human has a corrupt and terrible relationship at home, would that human be qualified to go and meddle with someone else's home?

True, they have oil. but, dont you still need an excuse different than WMD or a tube filled with powder. maybe not.

Well said! Putting aside whether the corrupt and vicious Maduro "government" should be overthrown with "outside help," a huge reason for not doing so is that it would wreck our relations with Latin America. For over a century, they've experienced US interventions in South and Central America. Interventions via our military (so many, it would be difficult to count), and interventions led by the CIA (Chile being the perfect example). The citizens throughout Latin America don't want any more interventions by the United States.

There are countries in Latin America with the military wherewithal to take down and replace the Maduro government, if they desire it gone in an attempt to help the Venezuelan people, and to address the instability that government is causing in near neighbors, like Columbia. Brazil borders Venezuela and is the most powerful country in the region. Chile, a victim of previous American intervention, is a Spanish speaking military power. I would not be opposed to the US providing transport if we had a sane person in the White House. We do not. Brazil could handle it. They have to want to do so. There may be some who secretly would like the US to do something, so they don't have to bother. Tough. It's in your hands, in my humble opinion.

You know "them" are people (includes men, women, and children who didn't pick or have very little influence on economic policy) and "starve" usually means major suffering if not death right?!

I amazed at how people can talk like this. It's awful.

So you support invasion? With such a corrupt leftist government in charge, it would be very hard to render humanitarian aid otherwise.

Why do we always have to talk about invading this and invading that country?

I am encouraged that the bbs may be making some progress with respect to evaluating the credibility of our media source on foreign policy. Even though all the same mainstream sources that said Iraq had wmd and was an existential threat that needed to be invade are saying Venezuela is corrupt, a brutal dictatorship etc. (unlike such loyal freedom loving allies such as Saudi Arabia for instance) most of the board seems to be not up for an invasion.
