No, I don't, and I never suggested that I did. I was responding to someone who wanted to decide that the US no longer was a leader in the world or that they had the moral authority as part of a b**** fit about who was leading the US and which direction they decided to go.

Apparently Trump never said s#@&hole. It is being suggested that he said s#/*house and that is what the GOP senators and Trump are using to deny.

I think there is a strong argument to be made for the idea that America is no longer a leader. Public opinion on America right now is pretty damn low in pretty much every country not named Russia. World leaders have also seemed to have lost trust in America.

I think his post was merely supporting the idea that America has always been a country of immigrants, for immigrants. This idea, this land of the free, the American Dream, these things are why people around the world flocked to this country, it is why this country has dominated modern history. It has been our thing, hasn't it? That you could come here, work hard, and live a happy life no matter who you are or where you are from.

I don't think there is. Other nations always b**** about America any time America isn't accepting a follower role which is something they did a lot with the previous administration. There's no quicker way to get other nations to say they love America than for America to accept a beta b**** role. America shouldn't strive to have other countries tell them they love them, they should strive to actually be a leader.

When it comes to America's past immigration history, it was fine taking all comers when you had no social programs whatsoever and merely needed bodies to help build the country, it's quite different when you are becoming a nanny state.

There's nothing wrong with increasing the standards for the vast majority of migrants now that the country is in a different situation than they were in 100 years ago or more.

So he's saying he referred to Haiti and African Nations as SH!THOUSE countries? Is this somehow better in his/their mind?

The question now is what is now the idea of America around the world?

I said this before a few months ago, but when I traveled to Singapore and Japan after the election for work, I got ALOT of questions that were very polite in nature, but a round about way of really trying to understand if ALL Americans (including myself) were essentially racist blowhards like Trump. If you travel abroad I'm sure the sentiment will be similar... a feeling out of an understanding of how racist you are. Nobody will be spitting on you in the street by any stretch, but you certainly get alot more "feeling out" questions based on what I've seen.

Many other cultures aren't as polite as Singapore & Japan so I'm sure it will be a bit more on the nose if you ask people from the UK, France, etc. I don't think people globally understand how unpopular Trump is here, and don't really understand how little people support his policies, and they just assume that MAGA is pretty much a universally adopted sentiment here in the states.

So yeah... the idea that America is the land of the free & a country of immigrants.... my opinion is at least short term, that is NOT the sentiment globally we have going for us any longer. I think we are thought of as a Corporate Interest hub globally & a place of excess. Big trucks, big guns, big hamburgers, big shopping malls.

And the actual problem is that people are focusing on him using or not using the word S&^%house/hole. Let's pretend he never said that at all and what he said was:

Why should we take people from El Salvador?
Why should we take people from (unknown African country 1)?
Why should we take people from (unknown African country 2)?
Why should we take people from (unknown African country 3)?
Why should we take people from (unknown African country 4)?

Why can't we get more people from Norway?

Because it's hard to complain about someone saying "Why should be take so many people from poor country 1, poor country 2, poor country 3, or poor country 4-7? Why can't we get more people from rich country 1?"

Focusing on the word "sh*thole" allows people to spin this into some kind of racism rather than focusing on the merit or lack of merit for the actual argument.

What exactly is a follower role? What specific foreign policies from the Obama administration were 'Beta-b****' moves?

America had plenty of social programs, I mean, FDR was probably the biggest socialist president in our history and our immigration policy was pretty liberal then.

Yep, unfortunately, this is how most of the world sees America and Americans. On top of everything you've said, also just plain stupid.

Why did you take the countries and change then to 'poor' and 'rich'? It would be just as accurate to say 'predominantly brown/black' and 'predominantly white'

I'm surprised his administration was careless enough to let that statement get out.

Nothing we haven't know for years about the GOP though.

Because even if skin color is the most important thing to you, the major thing the first group of countries had in common was poverty and it was being compared to one of the richest countries in the world.

So if wealth was his major criteria, then why didn't he mention the Arab countries that dominate the list? Or some of the Asian countries?

So the only way you can follow along is if numerous countries are listed? Fair enough. Clearly many others struggled to follow along too so it's not just you...although I think a lot of people just look for any excuse to misunderstand so I'm not sure any number of examples would help them see past skin color.

Just keep those blinders on as our President continues to make comments that can easily* be construed as applying to race (not saying he is racist, because in his own words, he is the least racist person ever plus he knows more about wedges than anyone in history).

*easily being defined as it doesn't take much of a leap to see it

People can and will spin anything to fit whatever narrative they want. Right now the narrative is that Trump is racist so you are going to have people spinning everything he says to fit that narrative.....there's literally nothing that would change that other than Trump declaring that he's switching back to being a Democrat. It has always been politically motivated and it is what it is.
