GOP baseball practice so clearly they were the target.

Gunman is dead according to Fox News.

Scalise dragged himself away from gunman and was treated by another member of congress that's a doctor

Apparently the shooter asked whether it was Republicans or Democrats before opening fire.

This is a new level of escalation and scary as we have yet to see political violence turn deadly. Sadly, I see more of this happening from both sides.

This is terrible. Hope these guys are okay.

Let it be known, I condone violence on Republicans under any circumstances. I know it shouldn't need to be said, but before this becomes a referendum on the proverbial Left, I want folks to know how I feel. Violence under any circumstances is despicable.

All congressman should get some sort of security detail. Not just Majority Whip. Lucky Scalise was there or no security would of been around.

"By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."

Don't every GOP lawmaker and staff conceal and carry?

Or how about another point of view:
Creating images of the President decapitated...
Creating plays and programs depicting the President being brutally assassinated...
Yelling and 'encouraging' others to make death threats to leaders they oppose....

giving security detail to congressional leaders only = sanity and not living in fear

giving security detail to all congressional members = insanity and living in fear

sure thing pal. Im talking adding protection for about another 500 people. its not a big ask.

I am against violence from every side, that is why we are a Republic/Democracy, we can talk about our differences. However, you have people who are cheering when the president of the United States trying to incite his base for potential violence, just like the shooting that occurred. This is just the other side of the same coin, you cannot expect everyone on the other side to not follow your own examples. Respect and civility beget respect and civility IMO.

Agree with your logic about having less security detail in general.
