The thing about Harden that has been so impressive is his continued growth. He could very easily have maintained the level of his first season here, and been a highly paid, well known star. All of the jokes people make about his outward apathy, poor physique and VIP status at treasures, none of that seems to show in his results. Save for one train wreck (which still wasn't really all that bad) he has come back better every year.

It shows an impressive drive that is immeasurable when evaluating how good a player can be. It's the main reason my faith in him hasn't waivered even though he hasn't been good enough to lead us to a title...yet.

I don't see Klay Thompson in your top 5? Argument invalidated.

We would be a worse team if we swapped out Harden with Lebron. That's how good Harden is.

Harden is now .004's of a point behind Kareem for #1 all time after his 48 point game last night. He is very close by that metric (win shares) to having the best season of a player ever in the NBA about a quarter into the season.

So... Harden has now dropped down to 10th all time.

Capela has moved up to 28th all time tied with Shaq’s best season ever in win shares.

And some guy named Chris Paul has moved up to number 4 all time.

So the Rockets currently have 3 players that would slot in the top 28 in win shares. I’m pretty sure those other 28 seasons by an individual player did not have another teammate the same season, up there that season let alone 3!!!!!

Does this mean the Rockets are going to win a lot of games this season??

    An update on this.

Capela has dropped down to 112th. Which is one spot behind Harden's season last year.

Chris Paul is having the 30th best win share/48 season. One spot above his own 2012 season.

And lastly, Harden is currently at 11th.

One thing I am curious about is if you took every team in NBA history and averaged the 3 top players in this statistic and averaged them together and ranked them, what it would look like.

Another side note. Neither Klay Thompson nor Durant are in the top 250 all time with their current seasons.

Curry would be slotted in currently at 38th.

MVP. But I'd like to propose another debate Tmac in his prime or Harden currently?

Harden, no debate. T-Mac in his prime was an all around scorer, a great one too but Harden is something else.
Now Harden needs that ONE good playoffs under his belt to stamp his name among the absolute best. I feel he can, I know he can.
