Rumor: NBA veteran Jodie Meeks garners interest from Bucks, Hornets, Clippers

  Jodie Meeks is reportedly on the radar of several NBA teams. According to Ben Stinar of AmicoHoops.com, the Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, and L.A. Clippers have all expressed interest in signing him for the upcoming season.
  
  

Meeks only appeared in eight games for the Toronto Raptors last season, where he averaged 6.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. However, the 32-year-old guard isn’t really known to be a volume scorer. Throughout his career, he’s made a reputation of providing quality minutes off the bench, and 3-point shooting is the main strength of his game.

Meeks is a career 37.3 percent shooter from behind the arc, which means that he’s still going to be valuable to a lot of teams, especially the contenders. The Bucks and the Clippers are in need of someone who will help space the floor in order for their stars to operate easier in the paint. Jodie Meeks should fill that role perfectly.

However, if Meeks ends up with a team like the Hornets, who are in rebuild mode at the moment, his role is likely going to be as a mentor of the team’s younger players. Having spent 10 years in the NBA, he will definitely be able to impart some of the things that he’s learned throughout his career in order to help Charlotte’s young core grow.

Meeks’ situation is expected to have more development once training camp begins. That is usually the time when teams invite the remaining available free agents to see which of them are capable of providing a significant amount of contribution.
