Ridiculous. How about you don't lead with your head or try to tackle with your head? You know that is possible right? The game doesn't suffer for lack of head hunting.
Annoys me to no end that people are just going along with that Mike Mitchell video.

First of all, there is no WORSE messenger for that message than Mike Mitchell. You're talking about a player that barely ever tackles and for the most part just looks to make big hits....with his head.
If say, Kam Chancellor, Eric Reid, Landon Collins, Thomas Davis, etc decided to say those things then I'd be more apt to listen.
Those players and more ALL look to make big hits but the difference between them and Mike Mitchell is that more often than not, those players use their shoulders and arms or just make legitimately awesome tackles.
Mitchell uses his hit against Tyler Eifert as an example and blames Dalton for Mitchell LEADING with his head and hitting Eifert there. Ridiculous.

Mitchell makes valid points re. the suspensions and discipline but he takes on two different topics.

Either way, times change, things change, sports change, people change. Everyone and everything evolves. The players will also evolve. The game will be no worse for it if players like Mike Mitchell ACTUALLY start making tackles in a sport thats called Tackle Football and hitting with their shoulders as opposed to the crown of their helmets. It can be done. The game will be no worse for it.

And the funny thing is Mitchell didn't even play in that game. If he were in that game the questionable hits would have been more.
There is no gray area with that dude, he makes some dirty hits and at best questionable hits.

This is great and all and may be true in the overall scheme of things. But one broken neck from an awkward fall or being in a weird position in a pile, and this all goes to hell.

These helmets would make the game much safer long term.

The chance of a fatality or catastrophic injury would go up (think knee to head), and you'd have a lot of broken noses, black eyes, and missing teeth, but the amount of head and neck injuries overall would be so greatly reduced, including TBI.

It seems that in the NFL's effort to eradicate the rare singular catastrophic injury, they've saddled everyone with a major on-going one (CTE).
