Once again, I never made the claim that the east was as strong as the west so there is no need to compare. If you go back and follow the actual conversation to see where this started you will see that I was responding to a very specific point about Lebron having a cakewalk every year directly to the finals. That, imo, is overstated and not entirely true.
4 year run with his super team in miami. 12 total series played before the finals. 4/12 went 6 games or longer. last 3 year run with cleveland. 9 total series played before finals. 2/9 went 6 games. none went to 7 games. 6 of them were 4-0 sweeps overstated? not really. along the lines of a cakewalk? yeah i'd say so
How many 7 game series have the Warriors played in the Western Conference Playoffs over the last 3 years?
That's your standard? Last 7 years in the west for the teams that played in the Finals, same 21 series: 8 sweeps 5 went to 5 games 6 went to 6 games 2 went to 7 games So once again, yes the west is tougher than the east, but if you're simply using how long series went then It's not like teams have been playing super long series over here either. The west had more sweeps in that same time frame, only two more 7 game series, same amount of 6 game series and the east had what? 4 more 5 game series.... Again, it's overstated. Teams in the west are not playing these long grueling series trying to get to the finals every year. Stop it. The east had a whole whopping 2 more games than the west that went 5 or less. Two of those games are due to the two 7 game series; one of which was the Thunder blowing a 3-1 lead. The problem in the NBA as a whole is a lack of parity. That has affected the east more, but the west has been affected by it too.
