we never had a real shot at Jimmy Butler

Both NY teams and both LA teams have max cap space, Philly can offer a 5 year max. and Jimmy Butler is just gonna opt-in so he can come to HOU? That’s very wishful thinking.

it’s a shame too because we desperately need a guy like him...a forward that can create for himself and others, play defense at a high level, shoot the midrange and the three, post up, and is a dog

    1) He was always a pipe dream.

    2) That dream quickly becomes a nightmare if you think about it.

He’s nothing more than an expensive AF Shane Battier in this offense anyways. With Harden’s ISO ways Butler is nothing more than a spot up corner 3 pt shooter and a defensive specialist. Spot up 3pt shooting isn’t his forte not by a long shot. This is a guy that’s averaged 0.9 3Point makes per game for his career. Plus an outspoken guy like Butler that doesn’t hide the way he feels is not going to be happy standing around playing 2nd fiddle to Harden only to bust his ass on defense and cover for him.

I think Butler is a stud but he’s a terrible fit next to Harden. I’d rather go after Tobias Harris. He’s a few years younger and spot up 3 pt shooting actually is his specialty and he won’t complain playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle. Plus he’s a better rebounder than Jimmy.

Ariza gone, first rounder gone, knight gone, morey has no assets to land Harris.

Ariza = rivers bird right + oubre bird right.

Butler says he wants to play for clippers, nets and Knicks. Why not just say he want money?

At this point should we just trade CP3 to clear up cap space? Sending EGo with him clears $52mm. Breaking up those two contracts into smaller, tradeable assets would mean a lot toward flexibility and options.

With Kawhi most likely staying in Toronto, i think the clippers make a push for Jimmy Butler. I don't think Houston has a chance at all. Let's face it the Chris Paul contract has us doomed.

This is one of the rare cases that Jimmy does not stem from James.

    He was born Jimmy.

He can't opt out till 28th and no new reports are out except the one that says there's a rumor that he intends to opt out barring unforeseen circumstances.

We were always the "unforeseen circumstance" and the possibility of him joining always relied on the threat of him leaving the Sixers.

Nothing has changed here and people who consider that he wouldn't leave money on the table and opt-in are just not interested in the actual cap numbers. No team other than the Sixers can offer more than us over the 5 year span. The Sixers, after tax, can offer him $4m more (TOTAL) over the 5 year span.

Money is not the issue with Jimmy. If he doesn't want to come here, he just prefers another situation.

Because if his choice is solely about money he would not consider anyone other that philli who can over him the most. He is probably thinking lifestyle and if he will be the alpha dog as well as money.
