There are a ton of examples like Adam Morisson, Jimmer, Thabeet, Bennett etc who lit it up in college or overseas and then were raped in the NBA, it's not that easy.

Went fast at first, but people suddenly drafting their whole team instead of going in order caused a confusion with some and stalled this.

Well, Adam Morrisons, Thabeets are the past and not the future.

Busts and Surprises are the Norm. Ish happens. You just go with stats that are at disposal.

This was the worst draft yet imo. No trades no creativity.

Creativity was there, but agree with the trading thing.

What killed this was people prematurely posting their complete team.

It was hilarious though....comic relief for a second and then it went downhill.

Right now, what is momentum? Never heard of it....when it rains, it pours.

Said it multiple times, everyone here is welcome to brainstorm new formats, complaining alone doesn't improve this.

    Some ideas:
The remaining franchises being drawn after the 4th round/halftime after randomizing again, so that people have to keep at least one allstar pick and have to re-prioritize. This can also lead to trading incentives, as your roster won't develop as imagined and you could for example end up with a 2nd franchise that only had great bigs, while you already had picked two bigs for the first franchise.

Seeing how the intent is to maximize trades (most fun part for many), we could also implement a rule like say max three franchises on a team or two franchises per team plus a number of journeymen that don't have to belong to your team.

Another possibly fun thing is pairing everyone up with a partner, so that you have to communicate and draft a hybrid team together. Donatas mentioned that this would lead to too few teams, so maybe we could then award every duo with two full-fledged teams so that we for example would end up with at least ten teams (20 franchises) still.
Now 20 franchises would lead to a drop-off in talent, so how about a format where each top franchise is available twice, so that inherently everyone will end up with a franchise that also belongs to a different drafting duo.

    So a rough outlook:
First round:Every single poster names a franchise that gets put into the pool.
Second round: Randomized order where the partners/duos get established, for example #1 and #10, #2 and # build a duo.
Third round: Randomized first round of franchises being given to each duo
Fourth round: Randomized 2nd round where the franchise copies are given to each duo, while making sure everyone ends up with a different franchise than their first one.
Fifth round: Same for the 2nd team for each duo.

Now, we'd have established the duos and two franchises per duo and team. From there on, the order would be randomized and we would proceed to the usual draft. As each franchise is handed out twice, trades would at some point be very likely to happen. This could be increased with the journeyman rule where you can have at least two players per team that can be from any franchise.

Another option could be everyone having to trade at least twice and with a different franchise.

This whole format would also work with single posters instead of duos, please provide feedback for this idea.

The tag team idea of two picking one is pretty good except that there are posters who are often online and others who come in once or twice every other day.

The communication thing could be a problem. It could get as ugly as the diligent kid writing the homework for the other kid......if it's not good enough, they both fail.

    • Also I like to refine and perfect the score system @Jontro breh concocted.
Judging should be fun and exciting and of course just above all.

True, could be an issue, especially with different timezones. I still love the idea, but we have to look at options.
The format would also work with single posters and two teams per poster, as I've said. Would then have to adjust rules to that you can't trade with your own team.
One team per poster would also be okay I think, the franchise copies and trade obligations or journeymen are crucial.

As I have never traded (except for draft spots), I dun know much about trading but I would be willing if people dun try to fleece each other.

What about an amnesty round, where people can try to sign a list of possible Free agents?

Waive rounds. Discard and picked up again by others.

A bonus round. Something fun to get the brehs ready for judgement Day.

    Round basis.

It somehow died down with the times, earlier drafts were 100+ pages long and everyone tried to trade.
Maybe it was due to people making more mistakes and not being sure how their players would be judged.

Format is important for this, right now there's zero incentive to trade.

Yup we should be brainstorming something new as incentive.

Usually had an amnesty round, but again this leads to little trade incentives.
A creative way of handling this would be to announce the list of free agents before the draft even starts and then randomizing the order once everyone has drafted their team.
People would now have an incentive to trade their players for a higher amnesty pick and their players of choice. For this, some of the best overall players would have to be in the amnesty pool.

Gotta agree on a format first and can then start it imo.

Not sure how many want to continue this one.
