What history will forget is how disappointing he was as a competitor at the highest levels. He was viewed as a superstar at one point but never made the next step.
To be fair, he never had a good team in his prime during his Toronto and NJ days. He did turn a cellar expansion team into a playoffs team. But yeah, he was never seriously considered MVP material.

Half of his career was over the age of 33, playing as a "role player." According to your logic, he would be a much more accomplished player if he had retired at 33. Did you know that before the age of 33, he average 20 or more points and led his team in scoring every season? That's 11 seasons, not counting his rookie year. Vince Carter's game was dependent on his other worldly athleticism. That's why his scoring dropped off once he started to age. And that's why I worry very much about Westbrook's game. Carter at least had a pretty reliable outside jumpshot.
Westbrook is okay on a contender where someone can take the load off but he wouldn't want to be in Sactown, Chicago or on some bad or mediocre team. Old CP3 can lead a mediocre team better than he can.
That’s true. His skill set wasn’t of a superstar. Mad dunking, 3 points shots, and some ball handling was all that he had.

HOF because the 1st half of his career was like Dominque Wilkins then he started playing outside which prolonged his career which made play like Glen Rice. Those dunks he did in the slam dunk contest was the best ever.
Im not saying otherwise, but a lot of people think he had this amazing career, and he was empty calories all the way. Ill even argue he was more valuable to team success on the late stages of his career , when he was a worst player stats wise, but great mentor, great teammate and veteran leader. Hi was clearly not made ( mentally, coz he had the talent and the athleticism) for the role of alpha, and ill take guys like manu ginobili, clay thompson , tony parker, Chris Bosh, chauncey billlups, rip hamilton and others that where considerer lesser stars over him. At least i know those guys did their thing in meaningful games that matter and won championships or went deep into the playoffs.
