    Git it dun Raiders!

    I'd be ecstatic with a 5th rounder.

Schaub for Matt McGloin in a 4th (or 5th) round pick.

I'd be happy with a conditional 7th rounder.

I'd give up a 5th just to get rid of him. He has the stench of a loser, and he needs to go. Can you imagine how demoralizing it will be to the team if the Texans don't get rid of him? I think they know this and are just angling for a low round pick. Whatever.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer, but Schaub has no trade value. None. No NFL team (even the Raiders) will pick up that Schaub contract. All these teams are assuming Schaub will be released and then he has much value on the market as a cheaper, stop gap quarterback that could be a 2-3 year solution at 4-5 million. Not 15.

I would trade him for a thank you note and a pizza to be named later.

I disagree with you. Until last year Schaub was considered by most football people to be a good QB. The wheels came off the wagon last year, but there's a lot of blame to go around, you can't just put it all on Schaub. His confidence is shot, but he's got a chance to salvage his career with a change of scenery or a new opportunity. Tampa, Oakland, and Cleveland have to be interested. He's the best QB on the market if made available.

If Cincinnati can get what they got for trading Palmer, than the Texans can definitely make a trade. But idk about Rick Smith's ability to do such trades...

How much extra $ comes off the books cap-wise in a trade vs. release? I assume it's significant. As in, enough to sign a FA to fill a slot where even a 4th round pick might play. Of course, then you have a vet on the books instead of a rookie for a few years. Net of it--I think we could justify giving up a 6th at most to get Schaub out in a trade.

They are interested, but not at 15 million per year.

Nothing significant this year. If he's traded, he counts for 10 mil worth of dead money, if he's cut, it's pretty much the same. However, I think it's more likely that they just keep him because they failed to bring in a vet FA QB and now Schaub is the best possible left on the market. I highly doubt they plan on throwing one of the weak QB prospects in this draft class to the wolves as a rookie so that probably means one more year of Schaub.

It's not really fun to think about, but creating David Carr 2.0 is less appealing.
