Rosas' shoes have been filled in the Valley: ====================== http://www.themonitor.com/sports/article_1454df2a-16a1-11e3-93ba-0019bb30f31a.html ====================== Posted: Thursday, September 5, 2013 10:04 pm Dennis Silva II | The Monitor The Vipers’ new general manager is a familiar face. Team president Bert Garcia said Wednesday Gianluca Pascucci will serve in the role previously held by Gersson Rosas, who left the Rockets and Vipers in July for the general manager job of the Dallas Mavericks. Pascucci served as assistant GM with the Vipers last season and has had two separate stints with the Rockets, from 2002-2008 as an international scout and since 2012 as director of player personnel. Between those stints, Pascucci spent four years with Olimpia Milano, where he was the team’s general manager and CEO. “I had the opportunity to work with and get to know Gianluca last year and he is the utmost professional,” Garcia said. “The minute I spoke to (Rockets GM) Daryl Morey, I was told we’re in good hands. There’s no doubt about that. “He knows the players, he knows the game and I’m excited.” Pascucci is a native of Pesaro, Italy, who has served the majority of his career as an international coach and scout. He is the second general manager in the Vipers’ six years. The Vipers are still in the search process for a new head coach after Nick Nurse left for an assistant’s job with the Toronto Raptors earlier this summer. Garcia said he expects something to be finalized within the next few weeks, but that the schedule is tentative. The last two Vipers coaches, Nurse and Chris Finch, have departed the organization for NBA jobs after each won titles in the Valley. Finch left after the 2010-11 season to accept an assistant’s job with the Rockets, the Vipers’ parent club.
