From what I remember, in addition to the usual "apocalypse" jargon... they were concerned that everybody was going to go "blind" because they'd be staring directly at the eclipse and be exposed to all the serious UV rays you don't normally get exposed to, since this is the one time you could literally stare directly at the sun for a prolonged period of time.

Of course after everybody spent lots of money on these "protective" viewfinders and glasses so that they'd be safe, the day was completely cloudy and there was no chance of staring at the eclipse as is.

Bump for those not traveling North for this year's eclipse - we still have totality to look forward to in a few years.

If you have a freind getting out of federal prison by that time then great, worth the wait, if not ...just get your self a Welding helmet - Shade 11 & stare whenever you feel like it

What's the point? We'll be under Russia's rule by then and be forced to stay indoors.

I traveled to the north Georgia Mountains for the 2017 eclipse. It was amazing and knew I wanted to see this one as well. Already booked a large ranch house in Concan, TX with a group of friends. Traffic will be insane for a few days before and after the eclipse between Houston and the hill country. For those not in the path, make it a hill country getaway and get there a day or two before and stay a day or two after to avoid the traffic.

I have known about this for a while. With Enchanted Rock being 100%. I wonder how they are going to control that situation.

Just a partial eclipse in Houston, not a total eclipse.
