I'm not gonna lie, I was so amped up for this day that I woke up two hours before my alarm clock and couldn't get back to sleep. I can't wait for game 1 to start. I'm literally bouncing off the walls. Go Stros!!!! You got this!!!

    Thanks for posting.

My prediction is Astros fans will hate Soto by the time this is over. Mainly due to his antics in the batter's box.

Soto is a rising star, but he has struggled in the postseason similar to Alvarez.

Interesting that the writer calls his antics histrionics. I mean, there's a lot more to that diagnosis than swinging your hips in the batter's box.

That is something else right there, but now that you've prepped me for it, I'll just sit back and enjoy the Michael Jackson tribute show. Our pitchers are nails. It's not going to bug them one bit.

Not gonna lie, I woke up feeling as bad as ever (not about baseball), but seeing this thread and everyone's energy, I'm already feeling a little better. And honestly, it's just refreshing to play a new and interesting team instead of the Dodgers. Let's do this.

Those three reporters are going to have a field day with Soto.

The Nationals have some really good starting pitching.

That said, I hope the bats are better than they were in the ALDS and ALCS.

    Specifically with RISP.

To be fair, we will hate all Nationals players during the WS, including our very own Houstonian on that rosters.

I went through some batting stats vs. the opposing pitchers for this series and here are some interesting tidbits.

    The Astros:
    • Michael Brantley is 15-44 vs. Scherzer with 8 doubles and a HR
    • Martin Maldonado is 1-5 vs. Scherzer, with that one hit being a homer :)
    • Josh Reddick is 5-11 vs. Scherzer :D
    • Jose Altuve is 2-11 vs. Scherzer, 4-11 vs. Sanchez with a HR
    • Most Astros have little to no experience vs. Scherzer
    • Yordan Alvarez has 0 ABs vs. any Nationals pitchers
    • George Springer has a HR vs. Corbin, Sanchez, and Doolittle
    • Alex Bregman and Yuli don't have many ABs vs. the Nationals
    • Remember that Springer and Bregman hit HRs at Nationals Park in the 2018 All-Star game :D
    • Jake Marisnick is 4-5 vs. Corbin
    • Chirinos is 4-7 vs. Sanchez

    The Nationals:
    • Ryan Zimmerman is 2-8 vs. Gerrit Cole with two doubles
    • Yan Gomes has 2 HR off of Joe Smith AND Ryan Pressley. He also has a HR vs. Osuna
    • Adam Eaton has 2 ABs vs. Osuna...both were home runs :(
    • Kurt Suzuki is 7-24 vs. Zack Greinke with a HR and 14-42 vs. Verlander :(
    • Howie Kendrick is batting .217 vs. all Astros pitching
    • Anthony Rendon is batting .211 vs. all Astros pitching
    • The only Astros pitcher to fave Juan Soto is Greinke, he was 0-3.
    • Michael A. Taylor is 1-6 vs. Cole with a HR
    • Trea Turner is 2-5 vs. Cole

    Game by Game Outlook

    Game 1
    • Look for Brantley and Reddick to have good games tonight
    • Zimmerman, Turner, and Taylor might have success vs. Cole
    • Predicition: Astros 4 Nationals 2
    Game 2
    • This is the real toss-up game
    • Most Nationals have no ABs vs. Verlander
    • Most Astros have no ABs vs. Strasburg
    • Bregman is 2-3 vs. Strasburg, hopefully he can hit a HR
    • Prediction: Astros 3 Natonals 2
    Game 3
    • Springer will hit a HR in this game
    • Hinch needs to start Marisnick
    • Scared that Osuna will blow one of these games in Washington
    • Prediction: Nationals 5 Astros 3
    Game 4
    • Astros have great numbers vs. Sanchez
    • Altuve or Chirinos will hit a HR
    • Astros will need to score a lot, or hope Peacock/Urquidy pitch well
    • Predicition: Astros 9 Nationals 5
    Game 5
    • Should be Cole vs. Scherzer again
    • Look for a HR late by either side to win it late.
    • Prediction: Nationals 3 Astros 2
    Game 6
    • Verlander needs to finish the series at home to avoid a Game 7
    • Yordan or Soto will win this game for either side
    • Prediciton Astros 6 Nationals 3

    BOTTOM LINE

Games 1 and 5 will probably be splits with Astros winning tonight and Nationals winning Game 5. I would be surprise if we win both of Cole's starts, but then again perhaps he really is unbeatable right now.

The series will be won or lost for both teams in Games 2 and 6 with Strasburg and Verlander. Will we get Cy Young Verlander? or Short rest Verlander? The good news is both games are in Houston so Astros should win both or split.

Games 3 and 4 will be toss ups. Astros have good numbers vs. Corbin and Sanchez, but the Nationals are here for a reason, I think the Astros bullpen will blow on of these games.

If there is a Game 7, it will most likely be Greinke vs. Corbin, Cole possibly coming in for an inning on 2 days rest. Verlander would basically be unpitchable after pitching a Game 6.

Astros in 5 or 6 is most likely. But a Game 7 could go either way

Where is the SI article explaining his machismo antics including his "shuffle," lip licking, crotch/junk grabbing is sexist and a microaggression towards gays and women? I mean in this day and age, aggressively grabbing your junk while staring at someone else should be anti-gay, homophobic, I'm a "man" and you're not discrimination.

Won't hold my breath but I'm waiting SI...

    Astros in 6.

Key to the series is to battle and get the starters pitch counts up as early as possible so we can feast on their bullpen.

    C'mon Astros LET'S GO!!!
I would like Alvarez to introduce himself to the Postseason.
I would like our offense to be introduced to the other team's bullpen early.
    Astroworld!!!
