So the Texans lose their 4th string corner and Brock Osweiler and that makes it to where they'll stop winning a division they've absolutely owned the last several seasons? I don't see it. Then again, if you were forced to list 5 teams that made the playoffs last year to miss it this year I guess you could put the Texans on the list just because coming up with 5 isn't really easy.
Thankfully we can FINALLY put this crap that O'Brien isn't picking the players to rest. This offense is on him.
Panicked? Doubtful. They had already discussed trading up to 12 with Cleveland a while before the draft even started.
This morning was pretty cool too. Just about his coaching style, how he got started, and some heartfelt stuff on his family. I forgot from Hard Knocks where we met his son. He talked this morning about how raising him has taught them a lot. Solid listen, although I don't have any link.
these guys call themselves fancy pants stats site and they ignore that the reason for that low rating by the opposing qbs including brady in the playoffs and Erin rodgers before Kareem went out was that, the front seven are able to execute the nutty professor's experiments flawlessly. They make every qb in our division nervous and prone to errant throws. Everyone wants to crown Mariota, like he didn't have a melt down when his team needed it. for 6-10 to happen, The entire defense will have to go out with some biblical plague including romeo and vrabel.
Not to mention I think Bouye led the league in PI calls. Can't wait to play them and just hurl toss ups at him and whatever WR he is on. Remarkable that they put us SO MUCH WORSE than last year when we added Watt and got rid of Brock.. but whatever.
When you lose your 4th string corner it always spells doom even if you are getting back the best defensive player in the NFL.
So we subtracted AJ, Quintin, and Brock... Yet added Watt, Watson, K. Johnson, and Cunningham and we're still going to somehow be worse. If anything the subtraction of Brock alone will make us 10x better. The schedule might be our only downfall this season, looks brutal.
So disingenuous to call him a 4th string corner. It's weak that you continue to do stuff like that. He may have started camp that way last year, but he became a starter and was the best ranked corner we've ever had last year. There is virtually 0 chance that any of the guys on the roster will have as good a year next as Bouye had last year. Bouye may also never have a year like that, but the secondary will have worse corner player for us next year than last at least at one spot.
It's factually accurate, he was a 4th string guy until Kevin Johnson went down. The fact that he played well aside from all of the PI penalties (he gave teams 10 free first downs due to PI, illegal use of hands, and holding....only 2 corners in the league had more despite Bouye only playing 15 games and only having 11 starts) doesn't change the fact that he was a 4th string guy. The fact that they'll have their 3 top corners back healthy IMO is more important than losing their 4th string first down machine CB.
Point is, Texans seems to always find a unknown guy to step up so I'm not worried about the nickel. Safety is what has me concerned.
Completely agree. So glad that the Texans have their third string quarterback to start for them this season.
It's also factually accurate that Bouye, despite the PI's, had the highest ranked coverage grade and 2nd highest overall grade in the league last season. 4th string or not, the guy was our best DB last season.
I dont know why yall even engage with bobbys extreme takes sometimes. Its like he gets pleasure with throwing bait out there, gets somebody to take it and then argue to no end about it.
I'm sure by some metrics that is true, however most that would suggest that don't take the penalties into account. Anyway the point is that the Texans will have their top 3 CB's back and harping on a guy who had a fluke season (that was still a drive extending penalty waiting to happen) and got laughably overpaid in the offseason by another team isn't something to really worry about. If anything it'll mean that we'll get a couple more first downs for free when the Texans play the Jags.
