God I hated those Braves teams back then. Getting pissed that Maddux and Glavine (especially) always got bigger strike zones just added to the fact we could never beat them when it counted.
Yeah. Towards the end of the 90s, when Dierker was in command, we were a force to reckon with. We also had three divisions at that point, which split us apart from the Braves. You are right, though, early-to-mid-90s, two divisions, Braves just were a wrecking ball. They just seemed like a rival to my young self but probably because they were so dominant and we had to play them a lot. And that's why this feels so good.
Just got home from the game, few things. 1) Proud Dad Moment- my 10 year old booed when they announced Angel Hernandez on the umpire crew 2) Really cool to see Cole’s interaction with the fans, we were all up after strike 2 on the 300th K. 3) That makes 10 games my boy and I attended this season. We went 10-0 in those games. What a team.
I hope JV can pick up 300 Ks as well. It would be the first time two teammates have done it since since The Big Unit and Schilling did it with the 2002 D-Backs. But the other numbers JV and Cole have thrown down--ERA, WHIP, opp. avg., and more--would point to them as an even more dominant duo.
Oh we will be there (at least once). I have been to at least one playoff game every year the past few, but the boy made sure this year that instead of me going with the guys from work that he would be attending. He discussed his terms in full during the ride home lol
Lol, can I hire your kid to negotiate sales and write contracts for my company? I think he'd be better at it than we are.
Somewhat overshadowed by 100 wins and 300 Ks and all the rest of the fun was that Osuna got his 150th career save. And became the youngest player EVER to get to that mark. Yet another shocking Astros record from this year.
Agreed...and keep me far away. 0-2 this season and 0-3 dating back to late last season...2 of those games were blowout losses. Heading there Friday to hopefully break my streak.
