We know if people wore masks there would have been less people being sick. We've seen real time models of that happening in many of the countries that have been way more successful at flattening the curve than the USA.
Relaxing of social distancing standards also contributed immensely to the spike. This is also demonstrated in Japan, Phillipines, Poland and South Africa.
Yes, and at least some of them quickly locked it back down and don't have the same rate of infections, deaths, or anything that we have here in the United States. The United States is doing worse than most of Europe, several third world countries, much of Asia, and much of the world. We can see what countries have been successful have done. America hasn't been able to do that, and we have folks trying to find ways to pretend the virus isn't real, doesn't require masks or lockdowns, etc. They will cling to memes rather than solid science and evidence. That doesn't happen in countries where they are handling it far better than the United States of America. Leadership in this nation has failed its citizens.
The US has mostly gone back to work at at least some points and I would bet that is what has caused the spikes. People were/are feeling the pinch and have bills to pay and things to do and want to get back to normal. The virus can survive 24 hours on cardboard and up to three days on plastic and stainless steel surfaces. Contact is also a major contributor to contracting the disease hence the guideline stipulating handwashing. Does Donald Trump have to demonstrate handwashing for you? Or how to stay 6 feet apart. Like I have said before, putting the blame on one person is asinine.
Donald Trump needs to show the virus is serious, lock crap down, emphasize the importance of following the silence and LEAD the nation to follow what has worked rather than tweeting quacks claiming you don't need masks and trying to blame numbers on more testing.
He locked it down once and public pressure forced him to re-open. His government's efforts to find a cure for this thing show he is quite serious. Sheesh, damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
when trump says and does as many stupid things as he does, and does so on a consistent nearly daily basis, you cannot reasonably expect people to do anything but criticize his handling of covid. He has f-cked himself with anyone who isn’t a die hard supporter and anyone who believes in science. Nobody did it to him. He does this aLl by himself, nearly every day.
Public pressure didn't force him to reopen. He's the leader. He has a bully pulpit to help steer the narrative and he has been steering it, but it hasn't been in the direction of keeping things locked down and wearing masks.
