I agree that her proposal won't work. I could be wrong for not taking her at her word, but my guess is that she wouldn't impulsively enact a policy without consulting various experts who will part of her administration and staff. I think that's an advantage of having her over Trump. She would actually surround herself with mostly competent people, and would amend horrible policy ideas before doing something like Trump has done with subverting funds for the children of military service men and women to build a wall.

I could be wrong, and I certainly understand taking her at her word. I wouldn't blame anyone for doing that. My guess is that as she gets questioned more on her statement she will reveal or add more nuance to her proposed executive order. But who knows?

    I’m SHOCKED!!

What about taking your land away from you and spending your tax dollars to line their own pockets? What about a candidate that promises to tax imports to make your life more expensive? Calls himself a “Tariff Man”.

    That would be Donald Trump.

Let’s get real here.... You are just trying to fill up the thread with negative comments to suppress enthusiasm of any Dem you can help beat down in support of Trump. Unless you are a multi millionaire, there’s very little chance Warren is taking more away from you than Donald Trump is in terms of wealth.

I hadn’t thought about how old the candidates are until now. But I am definitely surprised.

    Trump is 73
    Warren is 70
    Biden is 76
    Sanders is 78
    Mayor Pete is 37
    Yang is 44
    Harris is 54
    Booker is 50

    For comparison
    W is 73 now
    B. Clinton is 73 now
    B. Obama is 58 now

You'd have to think that if Gore hadn't been VP for Bill, he'd probably be one of the top candidates today running. He's 71 by comparison & his core values are more relevant than ever today.

It pains me to say that Biden's age is the most concerning. Trump has been a nutcase since Fred Trump never showed him any love & sent him away to boarding school so I don't know if age is really the predominant factor in him being a sociopath although it doesn't help.

Warren & Bernie are really really sharp for their age. Warren looks very healthy too. She might present herself as a regular Joe from Oklahoma but you know she's drinking some kale smoothies like she's from West Hollywood.

Warren is my favorite candidate, I don't like a lot of her radical proposals but I like that gets people talking about a paradigm shift.

i don't like her energy proposals but I don't think they are a huge issue for her as a general election candidate.

She energized the base, she would be a candidate that women can rally around and just like Trump most voters don't care what your most radical ideas are because they realize they would never be implemented.

Unlike Trump she can actually articulate her vision in a logical manner which could sway independents.

I still think Biden will win the nomination but Warren will definitely make it interesting.

I think that she is only concerned with winning the nomination at this point.

Time will tell what happens. I think a younger Joe Biden likely would dust her and the other candidates but that isn't what we have.

I still think there is a chance we see a wild card emerge as the moderate voice to counter act Trump.

Warren purposely put her self center of Sanders.

I think this is true until your proposals start directly affecting people's livelihoods. And big blanket "I'm going to ban X energy source" is going to put anyone who works in that industry on the opposite side of her. Not a big deal in Texas or Oklahoma because she's losing those anyway, but massive problem in swing states like Colorado. And a massive problem at House/Senate/state levels where all Dems are forced to deal with that on the ticket. Texas Dems made huge strides in the House thanks to Beto in 2018, and a bunch of GOP retirements open up more opportunities. All those die and likely get reversed if the Dem Presidential candidate is running on destroying Texas.

i don't think it's that big of an issue on the national stage most of the people who are against those policies where not voting for her anyway.

i agree on the state level but she can tack back to the middle.

Of course, there are the polls that show Sanders running stronger against Trump than Warren. This is probably explained by the fact that just like the overwhelming number of Sanders voters would vote for Warren over Trump and the same for Warren voters voting for Sanders, there are more Trump leaning voters who would vote for Sanders over Warren. Now some GOP women will vote for Warren just because she is a woman and some GOP men will vote for Sanders just because he is a man. In general it is the poorer working class non college Republicans who are potentially in play and Sanders does much better than Warren in this demographic, though I suppose a lot of advertising money might increase her appeal to this demographic.

In an election of Trump vs Sanders, the candidates will be very well known and the issues will be very clear, and I would argue that sheer advertising money, even on the internet will not be as important as usual.

I hope you are right on that last point. Digital media can reach voters who only rely on MSM, Fox, or worse Facebook to shape their perception of a candidate.

We know for a fact from the DNC themselves that Trump is flooding the digital airwaves with ads from all the money he’s getting from special interests. I have my concerns that for a lot of swing or low information voters, they’ll fall into the trap of thinking “all he or she is running on is anti Trump” or “Bernie and Warren are socialists” because the way the MSM cover Trump and how Fox covers the Democrats and how they essentially brainwash by constantly repeating tag lines or single words that latch on for an emotional response to the candidates name.

Either way I’m concerned about breaking a message through to low information voters and digital might be the key again like it was in 2016 with the digital voter suppression in Michigan, and Penn. Especially if it’s Bernie, he’s gotta find a way to combat the subliminal cognitive responses low information voters will think of when Bernie’s name comes up.

Banning fracking altogether has got to be the stupidest energy idea I've ever heard proposed by a serious candidate. But, unless Warren is also shutting down all coal mining, she should have all Appalachia in her corner.

It would, except it would never pass. Especially with a Republican Senate, but even without one. She can't do a ban on fracking by executive order. So no need to make Sophie's Choice now.

Besides, she's not a crazy person like the current president. So, she'll take advice and weigh all the factors and I rather don't expect she'd try to follow through on this promise. But, imo really irresponsible to have said it in the first place.

No matter the Dem president, markets will be lower, no doubt about it.

    It's not about the regs.
    It's not about the taxes

It's about not having a free lunch anymore.

They have benefited from a klepto oligarchy with favorable interest rates and tax refunds with little to nothing given back to their workers and communities.

Con messaging will be clear. Will libs be able to spin this Trump bump as a flaccid pussy grab for men like him?

    Where der real American jerbs?
Where der real raises to feed my growing family?
Wtf happened with the 1 trillion Republican tax cut?

When it comes to the Green New Deal it may be the only thing that prevents an eventual economic disaster in Houston. For example two Harveys or worse events in 5 years or three in 10 years and there would be a collapse, with many fleeing and the price of homes would collapse.

But should an outright ban on fracking be part of a Green New Deal? Does that give us the benefit we need? Will it just shift more fracking activity to other parts of the world? And, is there another way to reach climate goals that does not involve a self-inflicted national economic disaster?

I respect her and I’ll vote for her if/when she is the nominee, but I have serious doubts about her ability to win the general election for this reason.

It’s nice to have energy and enthusiasm....but massive rallies in solid blue areas don’t impress me. I want to see energy and polling data in purple and Midwest states that’ll sell me on the idea of her general election appeal.

Recapturing those states and general election appeal are the main reasons why I support Klobuchar, but I feel like a damn alien because nobody else is paying any attention to her.
