Watson tied Brock's '16 TD total.

He might not tie his INTs until '18.

Any updates on Cole other than it being a hammy?

    TOP 5 GRADES:
    • CB Johnathan Joseph, 97.5 overall grade
    • CB Kareem Jackson, 85.4 overall grade
    • DI Carlos Watkins, 81.5 overall grade
    • LB Benardrick McKinney, 80.0 overall grade
    • DI Christian Covington, 79.1 overall grade

    PERFORMANCES OF NOTE:
WR DEANDRE HOPKINS, 74.2 OVERALL GRADE

Only two catches for Hopkins today but the impact he had when he was around the ball was a major factor in the game. Hopkins’ touchdown came as he got away from Jason McCourty off the line, getting hit in the second window after Deshaun Watson looked off Ibraheim Campbell attempting to rob the quick throw to the endzone. However Hopkins’ biggest impact on the game may have been turning defensive back for a play, with Watson scrambling to the left flat he inexplicably threw a ball directly to McCourty who was standing in front of Hopkins, who reached through to break up a sure interception that would have setup the Browns in scoring range.

TE RYAN GRIFFIN, 73.6 OVERALL GRADE
Griffin tied for the team lead with three receptions today and the Browns gave up those plays with concerning ease over the middle of the field. Working from the backfield and inline, the Browns’ linebackers couldn’t get a handle on Griffin, giving up easy quick conversions to nullify the Browns’ pass-rush. Griffin’s work kept the Texans’ offense ticking without stressing the Texans’ offensive line in pass protection. Griffin’s 2.48 yards per route run is the second highest mark of the week thus far.

CB JOHNATHAN JOSEPH, 97.5 OVERALL GRADE
While some of the plays came gift-wrapped, Jonathan Joseph put on a coverage clinic against the Browns. He allowed only 6 yards and two catches on six targets, flashing great transition to shut down passes underneath. Joseph’s closing speed is special, and he used it to great effect Sunday, registering an additional two picks and a pass deflection.

CB KAREEM JACKSON, 85.4 OVERALL GRADE
Jackson paired with Joseph perfectly, showing similar aggression around the line of scrimmage. He set the tone to open the game, driving into the backfield to shut down Crowell in the behind the line of scrimmage on the Browns’ second offensive snap. In coverage, he illustrated tight coverage on a consistent basis, allowing only 27 yards on 4 targets.

I think Watson may be getting over penalized for near INTs. I think they are risky passes but he's placing them where it's difficult for the defense to intercept

I remember Arian Foster used to get lowish grades because he didn't break a lot of tackles. But he knew how to hit the holes so he didn't have to

Is it just me or is there seem to be a lot of bad football being played league wide. From backup QBs, slumping QBs, inaccurate kickers, Josh McCown outplayed Tom Brady and still lost. We saw Case Keenum vs Brett Hundley. Old man Carson vs Old man Fitz. Just ugly.

    It’s funny.

We’re 3-3 and lost our two best defenders to season ending injuries.

And yet the morale and outlook is as high as ever. That’s what a good QB does to a franchise.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It feels like we're better than that because Watson can function with basically a bad OL and we have playmakers, plus the defense is holding up ok I think.

But I keep thinking we've lost too many guys. Watt, Mercilus, Brown. That's tough. And I cringe whenever we do a designed run with Watson and he takes a hit.

    Don't forget that we don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick!

True but at the end of the day Watson/Fuller/Hopkins/Miller/Foreman is a core we will have for a long while. That’s (hopefully) 4-7 years of relevance. The relevant teams year in and year out all share one common trait: solid QB play.

Here’s the hard part: what to do with JJ? He’s not the player he once was and is injury prone now. This team would (sadly) be better if his salary was used on a hawk of a safety and a solid LB to replace Captain Roid Rage.

Yeah, we don't want to be a team with a great QB who never wins (Philip Rivers).
I think 2019 would be the first year we'd consider it. 2018 he still has a $6 mil dead cap.

We have the playmakers for sure. Hope we can build a line now.

Clowney will also be a big decision.

If the Jags had a QB they would be SB contenders. But with Bortles they might not make the playoffs. It's crazy and let's hope they don't find a QB any time soon.

    Dylan Cole Hobbled

Dylan Cole suffered a hamstring injury after an interception covering a wide receiver down the field. Cole tried to break a tackle but instantly went down and reached for his left hamstring. He was carted into the locker room after the game and was seen on crutches leaving the locker room. The expectation is that the Texans will work to get him back on the field this season after getting his hamstring healthy. The team will do their normal MRI and the injury is not considered to be a season-ending one for Cole at the moment.

Not to play Dr. here, but someone who has had several lower body injuries. It was slightly concerning to see him on the cart with his foot bent the way it was. Looked to me like a full tendon tear that would put him out for the season. You know how Texans are with injuries, but I saw some level of concern there from Cole's body language.

They really should pry the Patriots or Vikings on Garapollo or Keenum with a draft pick.

Bortles regression has been nothing short of hilarious for a Texan fan to watch. He can't throw a spiral. It is strange.

But a crap load of cap money to make up for it.
