Including this game, the Astros have scored 60 runs in the past 7 games. During that stretch, they have 21 HRs.
Chirinos is also 11th in the AL in position player WAR coming into tonight. That's 5 in the top 16 and none are named Altuve. JV, Pressly, Miley and Osuna are top 24 for pitching and none are named Cole.
The most impressive part about the Astros hitting is how few strikeouts they have given they are tied in the league for most HRs. That's crazy. Teams usually sacrifice stikeouts for the hr swing but not the Astros. They see the ball like they are all Jedi Knights.
If McHugh pitches like he did today out of the bullpen, and James continues pitching well....that's Rondon/Harris/McHugh/James as dominant relievers and they are not even your top two guys. Nasty bullpen.
That HPU Emmet vs Peacock story is pretty great. So were the pics of Brad in the dugout last night trying to explain things to AJ and Strom.
Astros currently have the best record in baseball, and, at the moment, are clearly the best team in the Majors. Keep rolling.

Make that 61 runs. They scored again after I said this. And speaking of that, they scored in 7/9 innings tonight. 3-3-1-1-1-1-0-1-0. That's THE BEST. THE BEST. Give me nine 1 spots over one 9 spot almost every day of the week. To score in that many innings means you had to do something to score in that many innings. And most of the time that involves constructing runs from walks and hits and baserunning and sac flies and whatever it takes, and that's interesting team baseball. It requires getting RBIs with two outs, another thing I love to see in a team. The number of home runs is gaudy and wonderful, but man I love seeing a team that doesn't NEED the home run.
