Well isn't it better this year? My whole point is that he is a different hitter this year. Seems he is getting on base more and driving the ball more. Obviously not because of last years stats.
1916 Chicago cubs went 60-15 on the road, which is just ridiculous. .800 record, and 60 wins on 6 fewer road games than today. We are actually on pace for 61-62 at the moment though.
Nice stat. I started to add win% due to increased GP. The 2017 Astros "suck" compared to .800, but have a decent shot @61.
Just keep getting them grounders. Teams simply arent driving the ball off Fiers right now. If he can maintain this ground ball transformation he is gonna keep being good. Not this good, but good.
pssh it barely cleared the fences. if 2006 tmac was playing in the outfield, it would have been an out. =) damn these west coast games. Broadcast last night said pregame today was at 4pm. that didn't sound right, so I had to check page 1. Houston has won 4 of their last 5, .800. It's good to be home, on the road.
Fiers last five starts: @OAK 6.0 IP 1 R BOS 7.0 IP 1 R LAA 7.1 IP 1 R @KC 5.0 IP 2 R @min 6.0 IP 2 R He also hasn't given up a HR in any of these five games. He'd given up 18 HR in his first 9 starts of the season. ERA down to 3.81
Wow, I think almost no one (Fiers included) saw this impressive turnaround coming. In a fun season filled with several pleasant surprises, this stretch by Fiers (right after he officially lost his rotation spot) is up there. Baseball is such a fun sport. Could he actually be our third consecutive Pitcher of the Month recipient? Has any team had three consecutive Pitcher of the Month awards, all by different starters?
He's currently 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA, 21 Ks in 25 innings, with a 0.99 WHIP. If he puts up 1 more great start, he's got a chance. Corey Kluber is also 3-0, with a 1.61 ERA, and 39 Ks in 28 innings, with a 0.71 WHIP.
Yeah..those pesky stats that show how a player tends to produce over the long term surely get in the way. If you want to use small sample sizes, you can look at his monthly OBP stats from this season and see they are trending downward. Jake has improved, but he still strikes out a lot. I like Jake and I really want him to succeed, but he has consistently done nothing as of yet to show he could be Springer's replacement.
