13 sweeps. Record is 19. 10 more series to go. Three 4-game series, four 3-game series, three 2-game series. Exactly 7 of those series are against sub-.500 teams. Highly unlikely, but those are the numbers.

As an aside, it feels like there's been a ton of 4-game series this year. Way more than I can seem to remember. Don't know if it actually is an outlier, but it sure feels like it.

Of his 33 homers allowed, only 6 have not been solo shots (5 for 2 runs, 1 for 3 runs). That's how.

This season, 45% of runs are scored on homers. The fact that they are mostly solo shots is a contributing factor on why 70% of runs scored are by homers is crazy. If Astros were in the Dome still, Verlander would have a negative ERA (slight hyperbole).

But when it's a 1 run game, because we can't score any ****ing runs for him, a solo HR is pretty important, no?

It's pretty ludicrous how he only gives up runs when he grooves the fastball. Other than that, he's as unhittable as anyone, ever.

Heh, negative ERA...In the Astrodome, JV doesn't just post a 0.00 ERA; he gives the batter a look that says, "I won't strike you out if you let a questionably-playable ball slide by you when our bats are up."

The Astros' bats sure know how to upend the mantra that solo shots won't kill you. It's an anomaly over the past couple years, particularly when JV is pitching, that I still can't fully wrap my head around.

There's an increase in 2-game series too which equals 3..... (4+2/2=3).

This situation brings more credence to the "just win series" philosophy.

    You either go 3-1 or 2-0 instead of a measly .667 winning % :)

I hate to bring this up, in the midst of an otherwise solid post...but 4 + 2/2 = 4

I could be wrong, been a long time since I took algebra.

Greinke is an ace that stays in trouble, it’s just how he pitches. Also if you win your division you have a legit shot at winning the WS.

Uhhh ... all of this is wrong.

    4 + 2/2 = 5.
(4+2)/2 = 3 (this is what you intended)
    4 + (2/2) = 5.

No combination of this equation = 4.

    (4+2)/2 = 3

As you have written out, 4+2/2 = 5

I Hate the 2 game series, the 4 game series, the double header, rain outs, off days on a Monday and playoff day games but that's become a running gag. I Hate Joe West and the Angel Hernandez. I Hate sunflower seeds. I hate the NL(after loving it for so long).
