Great job!! Maybe - I'd say hopefully, but some people just love the drama - you can avoid the usual meltdown everytime some "pundit" says Harden is not hers/his MVP. It's pretty clear, as it's been since the ASB: James IS going to be the MVP by a landslide, but it IS NOT going to be unanimous. I'm cool with that. Thanks mate!
I think I found a vote, and it's for LeBron. J Michael Falgoust, who voted last year, is not at NBC Washington any more. His replacement is a guy named Chase Hughes. Hughes says he voted for LeBron. In an article about John Wall saying Harden should be MVP, Hughes opines that the race will be extremely close (really?) and that he knows "at least one voter, though, sided with James." -- referencing this article. http://www.nbcsports.com/washington...uld-win-mvp-ben-simmons-should-be-rookie-year
Well, I've scoured just about everything I can for now. I'm hoping over this weekend, it'll be a talking point and we'll get clues from more voters. We haven't heard from a lot of ESPN/ABC and TNT people yet. Keep your eyes and ears peeled people!
Confirmed. I've been somewhat referencing this Reddit thread: It has this quote: Washington D.C.: J Michael Falgoust is no longer with NBC Sports Washington. The D.C. area has a high concentration of outlets, but I can't pontificate on which ones cover the Wizards on a daily basis and allow their employees to vote. Falgoust's replacement was Chase Hughes. Most of the new votes fit into that guy's research: Will Guillory of NOLA.com- New Orleans market was missing a representative. Shaun Powell of NBA.com- Needed someone to replace Lang Whitaker. Chase Hughes- Washington market was missing a representative. Still trying to figure out where Bondy, Lloyd and Mahoney came from.
Last thing...was just adding Doris Burke and Rachel Nichols and thought "wow, does ESPN have an influence on this thing." 20 votes last year. So they basically make up 20%.
I'm pretty sure i've heard Stephen A Smith say multiple times that Harden was his pick for MVP. Not sure if he has a vote or not, but i would think he would. I've also heard Colin Cowheard say that he'd vote Lebron. Again, not sure if he has a vote or not. EDIT: nvmd, just saw last year's list of voters. neither of them had a vote last year.
in terms of impact it's hard pressed to argue against it (and guys like VanVleet) but raw #'s won't necessarily show it compared to guys like Lou who average 22 a game. i like it though, more recognition for our unheralded players.
What's the logic behind media players voting for these awards? Are their any other votes that count? By the way, how is Convington getting 1st all-defense votes lately, is he that good? Based on what I've seen, if he's all-nba than PJ or Mbah needs to be in there 100%!
Does Lou even deserves 6th man? It just seems like he started a lot of games for them with all those injuries. Anywho, in for the epic thread of Harden winning MVP in a landslide!
