Cops say Baker and Dunbar were allegedly hanging at a cookout -- playing cards and video games -- when an argument broke out and Baker whipped out a semi-automatic firearm.

Cops say the men began to rob party guests ... with Dunbar assisting in taking watches and other valuables at the direction of Baker.

Law enforcement says the men made out with more than $7,000 in cash -- along with several valuable watches including an $18,000 Rolex watch, a $25,000 Hublot and a pricey Audemars Piguet timepiece.

According to cops, some people at the party believe it was a planned robbery because when the 3 men were done taking valuables, there were 3 getaway cars strategically positioned to "expedite an immediate departure."

FYI, the alleged getaway cars were SICK -- a Lamborghini, a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW.

    from the TMZ link above...

There are conflicting reports from witnesses about whether Dunbar was armed with a gun -- some say he was, others say he was not.
One witness told cops they had met Baker and Dunbar at a party a few days earlier in Miami -- at which the NFL players had "lost" around $70,000.
Our sources tell us the men had "lost" the money in high-stakes card games and other forms of gambling.
One witness told cops the men were gambling again at the May 13 event ... when an argument broke out and Baker allegedly flipped a table and busted out his piece.

....So...you lost 70k gambling with other rich people...got mad (probably accused them of cheating)...and robbed them to get even. And you planned this? You thought you could just walk away and no one would recognized you or turn you in? As the British would say...Brilliant!

If they planned this, may not matter if Dunbar was armed or not. Armed robbery in Florida is a minimum 10 years...Baker is done for.

Attorney Michael Grieco said Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar has letters from the alleged victims saying he was not involved.
The police department's response was, "We have taped statements, sworn statements from each of the victims that were interviewed separately (four victims, one witness). The affidavit speaks for itself. If the victims have a different story to tell, they have not come to the Miramar police department and given any revised or different statements. If the victims have a different story to tell, they have not come to the police department to give it." Grieco added, "I can’t believe Miramar PD did a virtual touchdown dance without investigating further."

They just kept digging a deeper and deeper hole. I wonder if there are any Hail Marys left for them.

I agree, but in this case it sounds like it was in fact a "set-up". The lawyer for the "victims" was extorting people dude.

The TMZ report that they had an arrest warrant for robbery still holds true..
