It's on CBS. That means it won't be good.

hopefully this means that the season will have a story arch rather than stand alone episodes.

BTW, I finished binge-watching Enterprise a few weeks ago and thought it wasn't nearly as bad as people had made it out to be. Nothing great, but it was light-years better than the early TNG episodes (yeah, I know -- not saying much).

Still not sure I'd pay to watch this new one, though.

    This

I'm a huge star trek fan, and I am almost certain this will be terrible. Literally ANY other network would have been fine

Because CBS doesn't make anything other than absolutely horrible television

Because CBS doesn't make good shows, they just don't.

They are easily the highest rated network because they pander to the lowest common denominator, and old people. They are the Michael Bay of TV networks.

Don't know if this has been said, but CBS makes bad shows.

I recall seeing the launch of Next Generation on a little black and white TV, that only got 4 channels, and thinking, this sucks. Several years later I enjoyed the re-runs quite a bit. I love sci-fi stuff, but never consumed the Trek shows. Basically just jumped into an episode here and there. And liked that it was consumable in one hour,

Think they have a built in audience that will consume it.

Think the movie reboots will give it lift.

CBS certainly has the cash flow to make it work. The question is can their special effects live up to the movies, and do they have the budget to do that.

If you are going to ask a millennial to pay for it, think that could be a serious issue, as the generation wants everything on the cheap or free.

I'm surprise Netflix or prime video doesn't do this. Maybe licencing cost is too high.

I was going to start thread to ask a question about cbs, so I'll drop it here.

Is there any word when CBS streaming via local provider will be offered in the Houston market. Appears the only option is buying their All-access subscription for $7/month. Apparently they need to make agreements with local affiliates like in other cities.

By comparison, ABC has streaming via your cable/sat provider account like ESPNWatch

The original Star Trek was on NBC (produced by Desi Arnez and Lucille Ball). Why did NBC let it go?

TOS wasn't all that popular when first aired and it was difficult to produce.

DS9 is the only one worth watching.

Don't you ever notice that every show on cbs is sort of like CSI?

Fully expect Star Trek to follow the same formula.

DS9 seasons 5-7 were good but the rest were meh. Basically it's only good when the war goes into full effect.

I liked Voyager when they brought on 7 of 9.

Disagree but DS9 was the best of the bunch though.

I think they all had their strengths

TOS is my personal favorite series

Data is probably my favorite individual character

DS9 has the best crew imo (only cast where I actually liked everyone)
