I'm saying that if you pay Cousins max money, you've made a mistake. Overpaying Noel is the same issue. You're better off paying 1-4 players more and 5s less. Period.

Guards are better than centers in today's NBA. Having Reddick makes you far more dangerous on the court than Noel does. Reddick spreads the court for others to do work inside. Noel did nothing for the offense that they didn't already have. Good defensive guy, but centers just aren't that important anymore. You need one, but you don't need to overpay one.

Is paying, yes, but they didn't pay him that last year. It was under 16. If we pay Capela more than 12 a year, I'll be pissed. That's a waste in today's game.

Um Capela and Noele is actually what you want centers for in today's game.

And the Best Team in the NBA is paying all 3 of their centers a combined $6 million , for the 2nd straight year. All guys making league minimum!!

Great, but you still don't want to pay a premium or you'll lock yourself into an untradeable asset and not be able to pay the positions that really create wins.

Deandre Jordan is untradeable? Rudy Gobert? Hassan white side?

for the amount of money they make and the effect they have on the game you could say that. you pay them to complement the positions needed to win, not be the ones that are paid like it

You guys are all copy cats. Just because the Warriors are winning without a dominant Center, doesn't mean everyone else has to win that way.

Say your peace now before Joel Embiid gets going.

well when perimeter play>>> anything else, that's pretty much what how the league is and that's nothing new. it also isn't just GS, you look at any of the top teams in the league and the C position is far from their best

if you're banking on Joel Embiid to change the game and be the one to win a ship, good luck with that. you'll be waiting a very long time.

The up and coming, new generation have a lot of centers. NBA might swing back very soon.

It's a copycat league, with copycat fans.
Yup, it always does. A Wilt/Shaq/Hakeem figure will walk through that door and all of a sudden everyone will be chirping about how you need a dominant Big to win.

won't be happening any time soon. being excited about bigs that shoot jumpers more than play inside won't be changing anything

True, but that doesn't prove spending $15-18 million on a good starting C is always a bad idea. The salary cap is $100 million, which means championship caliber teams will be spending up to $120 million (or even more).

I think it's pretty clear in today's NBA that traditional Cs aren't nearly as important as in the past. But some are going over the deep end on how much salary should be slotted. If your team has Curry/Klay/Draymond/KD, LeBron/Kyrie/Love, LeBron/Wade/Bosh, etc, all you need is a warm body. Not so for everyone else.

My point is: DON'T look at GS unless your model includes 4 All-Stars at the other positions.

Say what you will, but the golden age of dominant centers that you speak of is long gone.

Embiid, KAT, and Anthony Davis don't post up or pound the rock on the inside... this is a face up take your man off the dribble or pull up 3 type of league and the new age centers have conformed to that.

Whether your playmaker is a center, point forward, shooting point guard, or point shooting guard it won't really matter, whoever your star is he better know how to shoot the 3 and get to the rim. That's it.

Anthony Davis is very weak in the post, both, defensively & offensively. But KAT & Embiid actually can post-up quite well..

Shouldn't have said they don't... but that's not what there game revolves around.

They are not your a-typical low post bangers is what I'm trying to say. Of course it becomes an effective tool to have against bigger 4/5s but they ultimately like to use their size and quickness against most opposing big men to get them on their heels, which then opens up their mid range to 3 point game.
