So being bored at home leads to googling which eventually leads to Wikipedia. Let's name an interesting fact you discovered while being stuck at home these past several weeks. I'll start

ESPN in only owned 80% by Disney. The other 20% is Hearst Communications, which owns 100% of the Houston Chronicle.

The guy that created the "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" song was killed in a stand off with the police. His brother-in-law tried to talk him down and diffuse the situation but was unsuccessful. That brother-in-law was none other than Snoop Dogg.

Hydroxycloroquine is used to treat lupus.

Historical troy is a real place and that the trojan war took place around 1200 Bc. I had always assumed it was in the same time as classical greece in that 500 to 300 BC era.

the real historical Troy is in modern day turkey and you can go there.
The backstory is fun and the digging of Troy. It was considered a lost city for long time. All very interesting.
Even more wild to think ancient egypt started to form around 6000 bc and going up and going at 3000 bc which blows away Troy at 1200 bc. To be fair Troy was settled much earlier than when the trojan war happened.

In turkey there is another place called gobekli tepe dating to 9100 bc.

Its crazy of course to think of vastness of space but its also a mind trip to think of 9100 bc.
As you look at gobekli tepe or troy you realize how recent roman civilization was but you also see how advanced they were in thousands of years ago.

They found shipwreck from time period of troy near that area with perfect weight of ores and amounts and parts for smelting. These guys were smart af

I searched "who invented numbers" today and seems the answer is either the Mayans in 3400 BC or Egyptians in 3100 BC; most say Egyptians.

Also learned that adding oil in my stainless steel skillet during the preheating was a bad idea. Need to wait until the preheating is done.

I don't know but Barkeepers Friend solves that problem.

    Anyway I'll just copy/paste what I read:

Stainless has a "grain" and allowing the the pan to come up to temp before adding oil and food allows that grain to open up. If you add before up to temp, the oil doesn't get into the grain and your oil will be displaced once food is dropped into the pan.

Preheat until water drops "glide" on the surface. Once it's that hot, add your oil and allow that to come up to heat. Then drop your food on the pan and do not try to move it until the pan has released it.

So, the Egyptians invented numbers then sailed to America to teach the Mayans?

At the time he was making Raintree County with Elizabeth Taylor in 1956, Montgomery Clift had a life-threatening car accident after leaving a party put on by Liz.

Liz (age 24) was among the first to arrive and climbed in through a window to cradle him and be with him until help arrived...his face a bloody pulp. He motioned that he was having trouble breathing, pointing at his throat. Two teeth were lodged in his throat. Elizabeth Taylor reached down to pull them out, possibly saving his life.

Even during a pandemic Trump can't remain calm, rational or honest. I also learned that his own party will get a knife straight in their back if they follow his advice and it fails. It will be their fault, and not his. If the plans the States set forth work, Trump will take the credit, but any failures will be the fault of our States.

On a more lighthearted note, I learned that a silent dog whistle doesn't phase my neighbor's little dog who barks non-stop at the side of my fence after they let him outside when I am sitting out back. What a waste of money. I about blew out my lungs and he didn't shut up. Talk about annoying!! My solution is to sit outside for 10 minutes drinking coffee every hour starting at 5 AM, knowing he is probably barking non-stop inside wanting out, and waking them up. Paybacks are a b****.
