The success came from the demand for fuel efficiency in the OPEC era. It undoubtedly saved the Mustang name, but they were notoriously underpowered. That being said, I wish I could get my hands on one and drop a 351w in it.
If you want Electric just buy Tesla, They are far ahead of everyone else in 1) Battery tech 2) Charging network 3) Software and updates 4) Safety 5) Autopilot 6) Style Everyone else is trying to catch up. Tesla is going to keep reducing the cost of its battery and their cars are going to keep getting cheaper. Their battery will keep getting more efficient as well. Their team has already published research on battery that will last for 1 million miles.
No denying the Mustang II was a dog, but it WAS incredibly successful and, as you say, no Mustang II and we don't get to gape in awe of today's GT 500. I'd prefer that they not call this thing a "Mustang" either, but it has no bearing on the future of the pony car so, I can deal with it. And I'd been low key looking for a King Cobra for a couple of years...until we had kids.
It looks like a small cross over.. I'm all about EV's so it's good to see where the market is headed. 50-60% of new car sales by 2030 will be electric from some estimates. Lots of you guys may own one at some point.
Yeah, I couldn't be more happier with the Model 3. The last update increased power and acceleration by 5% (may be third time this has happened since I bought the car). You can also now get to a full stop while going forward and in reverse without having to use the brakes. The updates and the consistent search for the perfect car is why Tesla is so ahead imo.
Imagine getting a brand new M2 back in the day and feeling the raw power of around 80 net HP pulsing through your veins. That being said I've seen some retro modded cars that are amazing.
Electric Mustang? That is like a vegetarian rib eye. I support electric vehicles but this is simply unacceptable.
This will be just as successful as the last time Ford tried to squeeze money out of the mustang name with the Pinto based Mustang II Great success!
The 'Open source' tech comes with a lot of caveats though. https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=ca6c332f-2cc5-401b-b80d-36473d0754c7 The main thing is that if a company uses any of Tesla's patents, the company gives up its right to assert any patent and IP right against Tesla. The company also gives up its right to assert any patent rights on electric vehicle against ANY third party company in the electric vehicle market, not just Tesla. Using Tesla's tech essentially requires the company to give up all of its own legal right to patents and technology. It's tough pill to swallow for sure. I wonder if anyone has taken up on Tesla's deal to use their technology?
Only one Mustang station wagon was factory made. A prototype. Any Mustang station wagons you may see are aftermarket conversions.
