I'm late to this party, but I'm absolutely loving this band. Also they are from Houston too which I had no idea.
Listening to new Tame Impala. It’s impressive. It sure how Yeah, it's received some so-so reviews, but I'm not sure why. I listened to the first 8 songs last night, and it was like ear candy through my headphones. Melodies and such probably aren't as immediately accessible, but the production is as lush and dense as ever.
Yeah I don’t get that at all. I imagine there are those indie kids who just keep waiting for another retro psych rock album like Innerspeaker. That’s obviously not happening, and I’m okay with it. As someone who makes music all by myself too (albeit at a much much lower quality) I can appreciate how hard good pop really is, and his production is some of the best stuff I’ve heard even if he’s not as technical as a Rick Rubins or whoever is producing the latest Taylor Swift album, but you just really feel him trying stuff out in the studio to make the songs as interesting as possible beyond just being technically crisp. I also feel him on burying his vocals. As someone who hates the sound of my voice but knows it’s necessary because you can’t rely on others to provide vocals without disrupting your flow, I get it. That one song in the middle he completely burys his vocals which actually gives the song a raw feeling which I like. Any thoughts of which artists this album feels inspired by? I hear a mixup of BeeGees and Daft Punk.
At work, I listen to classical music, but also a lot of Frank Sinatra, Sade, Elle Fitzgerald, and Amy Winehouse, which I can listen to all day! In the car, Reggaton and Country...It really varies...
