Spoiler Oh I don't know the lions grabbing the baby and throwing it in the water -- the croc grabbing the baby and the lions fighting it and winning -- the bulls charging the lions after they pull it from the croc...etc.
oh well the spoiler doesn't work for quotes -- unless Pun does an edit... i guess it's not that big of a spoil.
If you go, give us details about your experience man. I'd love to hear it. I have thought about going for the past few years, but work always got in the way. I may head back to work soon, so I guess this year's out, too... bah. Africa is tops on my list of places to go right now. I've seen video of buffalo doing what they did in this video in the past, but not with the twists in here. lol. One of the most amazing vids I've seen from Africa was during a documentary when a lioness chased a gazelle or wildebeast across a body of water... the prey got away... the lioness quickly went from predator to prey as a croc came up, grabbed her, and took her under... bye bye lioness.
African buffalo are some of the most resilient of animals. If you watch lion attacks, they'll rarely attack a herd of them without isolating a weak one first. Lions have been killed by them, so they know better. The other thing you'll notice is that when they attack adults that have been isolated, they'll bite down across their snout first. Most animals they attack, they'll go for the throat in order to break the neck/windpipe, but the with these buffalo, they're so resilient and their necks are so muscular, the lions won't get too far by going for the throat so they try to suffocate them instead. I still can't believe that calf survived. Incredible. I've watched documentaries on Discover/Animal Planet where about 4-6 lions went after 1 buffalo for hours before it finally gave up the ghost and died. In other cases, the buffalo's herd came back to help and successfully defended the one being attacked. Man, I love this stuff.
