Capela outperformed his contract. With basically four guards along his side, it is too much to ask for Capela to protect the rim all the time.

...and constantly running around Curry and Klay on the perimeter, i would say this also matters, we know Clint had/has stamina issues, asking him to consistently run to get fast break points and guards guards 50% of the time he's on the floor probably doesn't help. He's still a center, i'm pretty sure in the league no other center is asked to run and play on the perimeter on defense as much as him, and he does that for 30/35 minutes per game.

June 20 is trade day, anything could happen?
Knicks trade 3rd pick for a star, then sign Durant
Lakers trade 4th pick then sign stars
Rockets trade Capela for a rookie contract or pick.

I just think we need a legitimate SF capable of creating his own shot... If not Jimmy then someone like Kelly Oubre

I was being very tongue in cheek. I agree with what Clutch said, we aren't going to gamble on a trade unless it's for a significant piece.

Do you really think Morey doesn't have a plan? Agree that getting Jordan would be key, because Capela's the most valuable trade chip.

Morey really closed our window by paying for bad contracts consecutively. First it was Ryno, then it was CP3 and Capela.

Capela is not a bad contract. Y’all trippin.
Yeah he came up short against gsw..
he’s not gonna grab 15+ rebounds if he has no other big help in him box out.
He’s not gonna put up monster numbers if the other teams game plans to shut him down. Some of it was on coaching/ game plan. Some was just mismatch. Without him we don’t get to 4th seed even with hardens remarkable run. We can only trade capela for another star. If not keep him and help him improve. He’s only 24/25!!!

Find a way to add Jamychal and Oubre. Maybe Phoenix likes Iman.

Indy may value CP3 over Clint. That opens up their front court for Sabonis and gives them a win now back court with Paul and Dipo.

Moving Clint for wing help or doubling down in our guard heavy play for Beal (we would need to include picks) might work but dont know if it moves the needle too much.

    Harden/Beal/Gordon/Tucker/Turner
    or
    Harden/Gordon/(Covington? Prince? Oubre?)/Turner.

The thing about moving Clint for one of those wings is that it should get you another talent or asset.

The contracts of Ryan Anderson, Capela, and CP3 have no relationship whatsoever. Honestly, these kinds of posts are embarrassing. Hopefully people read to fast and don’t see them.

Every article I've seen online by guys who actually know what they're talking about says that of all our potential trade pieces, Capela is the most attractive because he's a talented young player on a reasonable contract.

Especially when he is on the perimeter guarding 1's and 2's due to the switching defense

The issue is that Capela gets killed when we switch. So make it a point to just STAY with your man if the big tries to set the screen. Fight over the screen, get up into gs's guards and don't bail them out by switching a center onto them. Is that really so complicated?

It's extremely complicated when both of those guards can shoot from 30 feet out, one of them is one of the most explosive scorers in league history, and the big man setting the pick averages 7+ assists a game.

All the options are bad. We did not fare better against them before we switched everything. No one has fared well against them regardless of the strategy.

What's working is if you have several guys with 7+ foot wingspan and 2 of them are former defensive players of the year and the other one is a future DPOY. When Gasol/Ibaka/Siakam come out to guard the perimeter, one of those 3 is still in/near the paint and one of Lowry/Green are guarding the other man. It requires that much talent and execution and still their starting guards combined for 55 points on 35 shots. What allows the Raptors to play those line ups is the fact that their 3 rim protectors can hit 3pt shots on offense too, meaning they're not a liability anywhere.

What we're asking for is the equivalent of opposing teams fans asking why it's so complicated to guard James Harden. It's just difficult and requires a combination of elite team defense, elite individual defense and elite athletic/physical qualities. You say it like it's not complicated but the Warriors have destroyed everyone who has tried everything, they are the best offensive team in NBA history.

The Raptors may succeed in being the first to guard it effectively but we don't have 4-5 excellent/elite defenders who can all shoot.
