When that day comes and he is fired. I don't ever see Bill working in the NFL.

3 division in 5 years. His one losing season is when he lost his rookie QB. I think you need to look at list and ask yourself......why do u think people in the NFL think O'Brien will have a job almost immediately if he was fired by the Texans.

Get your head out of your ass. The players play for him. He NEEDS TO IMPROVE, but he is not a bad coach. The line has been the problem with this team. 2 new RBs, new WR, 3 new OLINEMEN....all this has been together for a little over a month. Give a little time.....

Then we have a problem. Youre telling me Deshaun cant read defenses? There was no kill switch to switch out of that stupid DHop toss even though the defense was clearly playing zone.

The majority are fine with that; as long as its not on this team.

Bill is intelligent, does know what he is doing, and that is his downfall.

He doesn’t feel anyone can do it better than he can which spreads him so thin that he’s only mediocre at what he does. He hasn’t spent time learning and refining the aspects of a great coach (clock management, second half adjustments, challenge initiation) because he’s too busy learning how to be an offensive coordinator, or a GM, or to get the GM fired, and then to get the next GM fired. He’s truly a master a blame shifting. Now if he only understood what an illegal shift on the offense is.

Coaches from the Belichick tree just don’t do anything as head coaches.

I hope the Texans aren't (though they sound like they are) like OP and the other positive police posters who were getting on me for not being excited enough about the Chargers win. Good teams work on their weaknesses after wins and on their weaknesses after losses. The alternative is much easier and natural.

It is a trick play.......why would he kill it if the defense sets up like they wanted them to? The Panthers Safety just read it right. Watson tried to wave him off from throwing. It is AMAZING how many of you don't understand football....and what goes into various things.

Texans were looking for a specific look and got it. Sometimes the defense just reads a play after the ball is snapped and makes a play. They get paid too.

The fault was RUNNING THE PLAY at all. Also, having your NON-QB throw the ball. He is not used to reading coverage from that perspective.

Waste of time arguing with this BoB defender. He can spin it in any way that makes BoB looks like a genius or it wasn't his fault

Again, it was a monumentally dumb call. But putting that aside, this is a perfect example of the other team just being better. That play might've worked 98% of the time (still a dumb play) - but this time it specifically didn't work because the Panthers were smart, well-coached and disciplined. Sometimes, it's not because your coach is a buffoon, or your players didn't execute, or all the 100 of other reasons fans get so upset.

...Sometimes, it's just because the other team was better.

Yes, this. This is the correct breakdown - and criticism - of the play. You should never, ever take the ball out of your best offensive player's hands in a close game where points are hard to come by and you're knocking on the door. BO'B deserves every ounce of criticism imaginable for not recognizing that situation.

But the play itself... The Panthers just outmaneuvered it - not because BO'B is dumb; but because Riveria and his staff are smart and they noted Hopkins and Stills have thrown passes and were ready for it. Also, watch the play again - Akins is open. So it's not a bad play design; the problem was asking an inexperienced thrower to make a good decision in a heightened circumstance in which points in that instance are mandatory.

You can never assume points - but, while the Panthers (defense) played well - you have to win that game. And you have to beat Atlanta. They needed to enter this upcoming tough stretch (Chiefs, Colts x 2; Ravens, Patriots) 4-1 so you can increase your margin for error. I bet we'll look back at this game as a difference-maker when the season is over.

Crappier coaches have been given second chances.

Bill will get his. I just want it to come sooner than later.
