The officer went to the hospital with "soreness in the jaw". Unless Ujiri cold clocked him, that alone screams CYA/power trip.

Unfortunately, while the majority of law enforcement officers are great people, there are way too many hot heads in the ranks. Modern LEO training is too focused on "us vs them" mentality and combined with militarization of the forces is really eroding trust. Law enforcement is a dangerous job, but it is made more dangerous by not using any common sense. A guy in a suit walking onto the court doesn't exactly call for hyper-aggressive action whereas a little "Yo, sir, can I see your credentials?" would have been far more effective. Dollars to donuts says this guy has a long history of citizen complaints.

So unless I see video clearly demonstrating Ujiri was an aggressor, with that witness statement, I'm going to make the assumption that Ujiri was shoved and may have shoved back without even realizing that it was a deputy. The deputy then went ballistic feeling his authority was challenged. You look at the existing video and that surely seems likely. You have a calm Ujiri and a furious deputy being held back by others. Most cops I know would just let this go but the hotheads/authority trippers never do - and the department is pretty much forced to back them up.

Pretty sure the officer tried to tip him $5 and Ujiri gave him a dirty look first

He had his credentials in his hand before he even stepped on the court.

i kinda feel bad for Masai, his team finally won a title and he was so excited. And that cop incident happen and took the joy away from him. You could see his reaction when Lowry pulls him for a hug. He didn't look happy. He couldn't enjoy the moment with Lowry.

Cant really blame the cop here for being overly cautious with all the Nigerian scams out there.

Arrogant? He's GM of the team that WON the championship & being told he doesn't have the credentials to be on the floor. I'm sure the cops knew exactly who he was. This type of foolishness is a part of America history. Never stops

Ah yes, that police have a terrific record of policing themselves, I’m sure that’ll help :)
