Deadpool 3 In Development At Marvel Studios, Confirms Ryan Reynolds Ryan Reynolds confirms Deadpool 3 is being developed at Marvel Studios, although there aren't many other details available at this time. Ryan Reynolds confirms Deadpool 3 is currently in development at Marvel Studios. As Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox became official earlier this year, it was said the Merc With a Mouth would be the only X-Men character who wouldn't be rebooted at the Mouse House. That train of thought made a great deal of sense, considering how successful the first two Deadpool films were. Despite their R-rating, they're the highest-grossing X-Men films of all-time, collectively earning approximately $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. Audiences have clearly responded to the series, so Disney's going to keep things as is. While that's all fine and good, the question of exactly when moviegoers would see more of Deadpool remained. During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios unveiled their Phase 4 slate and confirmed other films starring the Fantastic Four and the X-Men were in the works. But all's been relatively quiet on the Deadpool front - save for the news that planned spinoff X-Force was being shelved. Back in October, Reynolds teased a meeting he had with Marvel Studios, and now it looks like things are in motion to put another Deadpool movie together. During his appearance on Live With Ryan and Kelly on Christmas Eve (hat tip Gujju Bindass), Reynolds was asked about the future of the Deadpool franchise. According to the actor, he's currently working with Marvel to develop a new project: "Yeah we're working on it right now with the whole team. We're over at Marvel now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it." Reynolds obviously couldn't delve too far into specifics, but this is encouraging to hear. Even if Deadpool 3 is in the earliest stages right now, it shows Disney actually is willing to continue the hit series. What'll be interesting to see is if the Deadpool franchise is integrated into the larger MCU or if it operates as a separate entity. Over the summer, reports stated Disney was debating the possibility of having Deadpool alternate between R-rated solo films and PG-13 MCU team-ups. One of the benefits of Deadpool being under the same umbrella as the Avengers is the opportunity for fun character interactions that fans would love to see onscreen. Unfortunately, viewers will never see Wade Wilson trade barbs with Tony Stark, but it would still be entertaining to see Deadpool cross paths with someone like Spider-Man, as they did in the comics. There's still no word on when Deadpool 3 may see the light of day, but in all likelihood that film is still a few years away. Marvel's Phase 4 (which also includes a full slate of Disney+ TV shows) is plotted out through 2021. Marvel does have multiple release dates claimed for mystery films in 2022 and 2023, so perhaps that's when Wade Wilson will return to the big screen. By that point, Marvel will probably have a greater idea what they're going to do with their newly inherited Fox properties and have a plan in place for Deadpool, the X-Men, and more.
Kevin Feige Confirms ‘Deadpool 3’ Is an MCU Movie; Teases R-Rating and When It’s Filming BY ADAM CHITWOOD6 HOURS AGO The MCU is not prepared. There were a lot of questions that arose when Disney bought 20th Century Fox, but one big question Marvel fans had was about the future of the Deadpool franchise. Only just a few short years ago, the low-budget, R-rated superhero movie paid off for Fox in a big way, becoming its most prized superhero property. A sequel was immediately greenlit, but the victory lap was short-lived as Disney swooped in and Fox’s future Deadpool plans were put on hold. Clearly Disney wouldn’t throw away a franchise and character as valuable as Deadpool, but questions remained regarding how the R-rated property would fit into the exclusively PG-13 box of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well as it turns out, pretty neatly. Collider’s own Steve Weintraub recently spoke with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in anticipation of Marvel’s first Disney+ series WandaVision, and during their conversation Feige gave a promising update on Deadpool 3, revealed when filming will begin, and most importantly, confirmed the sequel will be part of the MCU. That’s right. When Deadpool 3 happens, it won’t be as some tangentially related property with a couple of jokes about the MCU. Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed mercenary is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and he’ll be keeping his R-rating. Feige said sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are hard at work on the script with Reynolds overseeing, but Deadpool 3 filming won’t begin until 2022 at the earliest: Image via 20th Century Fox “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.” This is an exciting update. Obviously Feige and Co. have their hands full production-wise, as they’re in the midst of filming Thor 4 and Spider-Man 3, and this year will also begin filming Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, and Captain Marvel 2. So Deadpool 3 won’t be hopping onto the dance card until 2022, meaning the film probably won’t hit theaters until 2023 at the earliest.
You don't shitcan a franchise that made 780 million per movie. Even the Mouse will get its hands dirty for that kind of money.
I have a hunch that he's going to be in every MCU movie from here on out, sort of like a Stan Lee cameo in a Where's Waldo capacity.
PG-13 movies are generally allowed one F-bomb and still keep the PG13 rating. It would be amazing if what you suggested above happens, but each cameo of Deadpool is just him delivering the allotted **** in different, hilarious ways.
Not a big Deadpool fan but they should use him to transcend the MCU box and have him dabbling into Star Wars, Aliens, etc... why not. Who cares.
