Not that these $25 lawn service people care but the best/easiest way to do it is edge and mow the perimeter first, blow it back into the lawn, then mow over it (mulching it or bagging it with the rest of the lawn). I'll usually blow what's leftover from the sidewalk and driveway into the street if it's just grass, but even then if it turns out to be a lot I grab a broom and pick up most of it. But usually it's only a small amount of clippings that will wither to nothing pretty quickly. Can't stand those people that let their grass grow 8 inches tall, then mow/edge and just leave it all sitting on the sidewalk and street.
That's what our guy does, now that I think about it. He bags the massive amount of leaves that fall from the live oaks we have everywhere and carts them off. He's $35 a trip, extra when he has to bag the leaves, which is about $10 bucks less than what other folks in our neighborhood pay and particularly good for our corner lot. Austin's a lot different that my hometown, yard wise. There's limestone 4 or 5 inches below the dirt, at least in our area. Parts of Austin aren't like that, of course, but that's more the exception than the rule in SW Austin, IMO. Planting a tree or a bush is a major project. I used to do all that stuff, but physically just can't any longer. I wish I could!
Don't see this happen on my street. Have gotten communications from the civic association to not let yard guys blow clippings into the sewer because it can contribute to flooding.
I rarely get really angry, but this did it -- parked my freshly detailed car by my friend's house at the end of a cul de sac. I heard the leaf blowers and didn't think anything of it, but after a while checked the ongoing noise and saw two guys trying to clean the dirt, grass, bits of mud, etc off my car with their leaf blowers -- basically sand blasting my paint. ALTO, ALTO, ALTO...
Leaf Blower Etiquette No. 1....Always have a leaf blower handy in case you need to unveil a World Series Championship Banner.
I read an etiquette manual with pictures to prep for these situations. The verdict? "One good blow deserves another"
thanks yall. im obviously not the only who has an issue with this. i was worried i was being a jerk about it, but if anything im being too nice. time to step it up a notch! i dont own a leaf-blower and dont want to buy one just for this, but i think im going to start blasting them with the hose when they blow leaves into my yard.
Sweet...... I think I have seen your fiefdom down Bissonnet by the toll road.... It is hard to see from the toll road, because it is nestled behind Haliburton. The Jugdish Manor looks awesome.... I hope you have some hot wenches, every castle needs a gaggle of them.
