Scrubby Bazemore is scrubby ... except the night against the Rockets when he wasn't.

The spacing in Atlanta has gone down the drain since they have added Dwight Howard. That helps explains part of Bazemore's struggles.

Come on. Not everything is Dwight's fault. Kent has career averages of 7 points 3 rebounds 2 assists. The dude just isn't that good. He's an ok player but not someone a team should make a priority in summer free agency. We dodged a huge bullet

Did I say everything is Dwight's fault? The reality is that the spacing in Atlanta has gone way down and the primary reason is swapping out someone great at spacing (Horford) for someone that is terrible at it (Howard).

Bazemore was never any good to begin with. How people are so easily fooled with a few fluke games. So glad Houston didn't end up with him

Anyone know what the plan was if Houston landed Bazemore? Trade Ariza? Have Bazemore come off the bench? He got Ryan Anderson money, so would we still have gone after Gordon with leftover money, or someone else? It was never quite clear to me what the path forward was.

It was never clear to anybody. You'd basically be an insider, or knew of one, if were clear to you.

From what I understand, Rocket Brass kind of saw Bazemore on the street and set up a meeting and offered him a contract. I think it was a way to lure Al Horford. I'm not even sure they were serious about signing him.

The idea was likely to play Baze in the backcourt with Harden, and Ariza would still be the 3. Bev off the bench. Baze would guard the PGs and Harden would have 3pt shooters/defenders/slashers in Ariza & Baze in the starting lineup next to him. Guys with length that could switch. If the Rockets got Baze, they likely don't target Gordon.

Since they went after Bazemore/Horford first, and Bazemore got Gordon money as well (12.5 Eric -15.5 Kent -18.5 Ryan), i guess for us it was always Horford+Bazemore -> Horford+Gordon -> Anderson + Bazemore -> Anderson + Gordon, just in order to sign a big and a guard.

Personally i don't think they were going to trade Trevor unless there was a pretty good deal available, they would've probably dumped KJ and/or Brewer.

It was Baze and Anderson or EGO and Anderson. Ariza would've been a bench player while KJ and Brew would've been moved. I never wanted Baze, I always thought he was very overrated and mentioned a few times in the offseason that rockets should sign EGO, I'm glad they did because dude has been great so far with his O and D

Was Bazemore Maury's choice as free agent? Thankfully the scrub rejected us

Eric Gordon over Bazemore any day, any time

Yup we dodged a huge bullet. I was fooled into drafting Bazemore on my fantasy team and he is worst than Sergio Rodriguez, and I will drop his ass soon. Oh and he sucks in real life too.
