Clippers Considered 'Equally Dangerous Threat' As Knicks To Sign Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has long been most strongly linked with the New York Knicks should he leave the Golden State Warriors, but "very smart and plugged-in people" that have spoken with Marc Stein indicate that "the Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as an equally dangerous threat."

Stein has also previously "heard trusted insiders state with conviction that Durant is already planning to join the Knicks … and then that he is likely to consider the Nets as well … and now that he is eyeing the Clippers just as intently as New York."

Durant took several meetings when he was a free agent in 2016. It is not yet clear if he will follow suit again this offseason

If LAC gets both KD and Kyrie, I'd watch basketball even if Rockets tank.

They need to take that out East. The NBA needs more talent over there. We have enough going on in the West.

Or let us move to the East. Earlier road games would be nice.

Kd and Kyrie isn't enough to beat the warriors.

Clippers would definitely be a better supporting cast for them.

Should go East and make the Finals. Doesn't make sense to stay in the West and get knocked out of the playoffs by the Rockets/Warriors etc.

Can LAC sign 2 max FAs outright? Wouldn't even go with Irving, since he's ball dominant and his style might clash with Durant. Plus, LAC has great PGs already. Let's go with Jimmy Butler.

    PBev / SGA
    Butler / Lou
    Gallinari / Shamet
    Durant / Green
    Zubac / Harrell

That's a pretty darn good team.

I would rather be in the East. Earlier road games would be nice. I hate those 9:30 weekday tipoffs.

They need to dump Gallo (expiring) or Lou and Trez to get two max guys, i'd say they'll easily dump Gallo eventually.

Agreed on Irving btw, the Clipers have already different small guards, Shai is also going to be very good soon...i would definitely look to get big guards and wings if i'm West, wouldn't be shocked if they start the season with a similar roster to this:

    Trez
    JaMaychal Green
    Kawhi/Durant
    Klay/Butler/Beal/Middleton
    Shai

    Zubac
    Mirotic/Morris/Thad.Young/Gibson (exception)
    Temple
    Lou
    Pat/Shamet

Would also keep an eye on Brook Lopez and Horford (if Irving bolts i can see Ainge go younger and take Gallo expiring plus a pick for Horford, which would be great at center next to Green and Kawhi).

Kyrie played w/ a ball-dominant forward in LBJ. They eventually clashed, but not before winning a championship. Besides, I didn't ever think that Bev was a starting caliber PG.

But LBJ was a much better passer and could move off the ball. KD does neither.

    ^ This.

Plus, Kyrie was a child who clearly had to play Robin to LeBron's Batman. Now that Kyrie has had a taste of leading his own team (though utterly failing), who knows what his mindset will be, if he plays with a much better scorer than him. I think Kyrie expects to still be the guy.

KD to the Rockets would be amazing. We already play isoball. And I'm sure KD wouldn't mind the whole "layups or 3s" analytics, even though his midrange is great.

If the stars align, I'm all for it.

That would be the best way to beat em. Add someone with inside info and someone we could go to when cp3 and harden can’t handle it

Well, i think everyone would agree on that, too bad Durant has other plans, just like few years ago :(

Kyrie had that part in the season when he called LBJ to apologize. After becoming closer friends w/ KD, I'd doubt he wants to ruin it so fast by just dumping on him immediately.

I agree that LBJ is a passer of the highest level, and is better than KD at that. Great court vision, etc. But it's not like Kyrie doesn't like to isolate and wants to receive passes on cuts most of the time. You don't need great passing for isolation or the type of plays he makes.

I also can't say that LBJ is so much better at moving without the ball. KD's length and height makes it unnecessary for him to continuously make his own space to receive the ball, and KD isn't bad at it either.

Starting to think there's a lot of sneak diss on KD, I honestly much prefer KD over LBJ.
