If I had to guess he has a degenerative quad issue. He wants a max contract extension and the Spurs aren’t budging. The Grant Hill of this NBA era incoming. He’s probably sitting out while the uncle is fishing for a team that would commit a max deal to him.
Soooo who's old enough to remember Charlie Thomas accusing Olajuwon faking an injury in 1992? Then... guess what happens in 1993-1994: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...charlie-thomas-hakeem-olajuwon-leonard-armato HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets suspended center Hakeem Olajuwon indefinitely without pay on Monday, accusing the six-time All-Star of failing to suit up Saturday after a doctor cleared him to play. Leonard Armato, Olajuwon`s agent, said he planned to file a grievance against the Rockets after further talks with the NBA Players Association. ``It`s like when Saddam went into Kuwait: They`ve been lobbing in those Scud missles and we`ve been trying to duck,`` Armato said. ``Now we have to respond.`` The suspension will cost Olajuwon $46,900 per game, based on his $3.8 million annual salary. Rockets owner Charlie Thomas said that Olajuwon, who says he sustained a hamstring injury last Tuesday, had failed to render his services under terms of his contract. The Rockets accused Olajuwon of faking his injury as a ploy to get his contract renegotiated. ``All we can do is refer to the ongoing pattern of renegotiation demands,`` Rockets General Manager Steve Patterson said. ``Those talks came to a head earlier this week. ``He says he can`t play, therefore he`s suspended. If he gets out on the court and plays, then the suspension is lifted.`` Olajuwon worked out in the training room while his teammates worked out in a closed door session Monday before beginning a three-game road trip. ``They are trying to shift the blame to the contract,`` Olajuwon said. ``That`s not the issue here. It`s my hamstring. That`s the issue. Don`t blame it on the contract.``
Nope. Too injury prone and now too much of a baby sheesh. Spurs are one of the if not the best organization in the NBA if you have a problem with them there is a problem with you.
Hard to place him there right now when he has barely played this year, and has had one borderline elite offensive year. I would step off the gas a bit.
It sucks our division rivals have to go through this. I'd rather beat them when they're at 100%, but I'll definitely take whatever success we can get.
Spurs putting this on Kawhi is pretty bold. (Long been cleared to return) - “He's been long cleared to return -- the final decision still remains with him.” Gotta say, would love to her some inside info from @cyberx or @Codman on the Kawhi situation.
This is an obvious result of team chemistry and organization. It's like feeling bad for the Mavs right now. This isn't about injuries, it's about a player not wanting to play.
The Kawhi thing sounds like the Derek Rose thing all over again. It is very curious. It is going to be an interesting summer for the Spurs.
