It's fairly obvious this board leans liberal...

Why do you think that is? Houston is a very conservative town and pretty much every other online sports forum in the state of Texas that i've seen has a very conservative lean, as you would think being in Texas. What is different about Clutchfans than most other online Texas sports communities? I think its pretty interesting. Discuss

I think I can actually answer this question. Long ago I posted a thread asking whether certain sports attracted certain political leanings. Somebody posted a chart that showed that essentially every sport leaned to the right, except for basketball, which was (I think tentatively but entirely) in the left.

Given that basketball is generally played in urban areas (look at the "why are the great cities liberal" thread) and is demographically dominated by minorities, the viewers and participants are, on average, more likely to be liberal. That's just my best guess.

You online police are really pathetic. Do you really have nothing better to do than to go around proclaiming that similar topics have been discussed? Just skip the f'ing thread if it really bothers you that much.

I don't think Clutchfans is necessarily liberal. The D&D is over populated with liberals though.

The great cities of America are liberal that includes Houston (look at your mayor) -- also we've done polls before and the board is actually conservative leaning.

I do find it amusing that the most socialist sport there is (the NFL, with it's profit sharing) is the most watched by conservatives.

I'm shocked that wrestling fans produce the lowest voter turnout of all 'sports'.

Actually, it wasn't that way many years ago. When Bush was in office and just after 9/11 this section had a lot of prominent conservative posters. Slowly but surely they all took a beating from the war to the missing WMD's to Ashcroft to the economy to the war or terror. This gave rise to the new conservative posters like Trader Jorge who raised the art of trolling to levels nobody had ever seen. Conservatism generally has taken a beating and has become much more extreme since the Bush/Cheney crew took office followed by Fox News and their crew. The board reflects that. Most of the credible, sane conservatives don't even bother anymore and it's hard to blame them when the hightops and granvilles of the board work overtime to caricature conservatism.

You don't have to be so angry and scream profanity at me just because I reminded you that you will never have an original idea.

Liberal biases are cerebral, we think, talk and consider. Liberal thought is more inclusive and tends to take the higher moral ground so people are proud to represent themselves that way in public.

Conservative biases are more visceral and self oriented. To even consider nuance is to invalidate the established traditions and order. While it may be as valid, it's hard to actually go on record as being discriminatory and cold-hearted. You always sound like a douchebag.

Conservatism always fears the worst of mankind, Liberalism always expects the best. Neither alone is a prudent path.

Houston (City) is a Democratic city. Harris County, is a Red County. Surburbs are conservative (White Flight).

I don't think there is even a majority of Houston posters. Many in the D&D aren't even in the USA.

The entire country is leaning more liberal these days. Not surprising the board reflects that.

It is true, more people identify with the left than with the right.

It all depends on how you phrase the question you're asking to determine if someone leans left. However I think many "conservative" people lean more left than they want to believe they do.
