If you don't watch these games, needless to say, don't even answer the question.

IMO, Klay is a superstar. He is forced to share shots with basically 3 other superstars, and still makes a high percentage.

Klay, to me, is the best off-ball guard in the league.

Can you be off-ball and still be a superstar? That's the only question you need to really answer.

Btw, I think this way partially because I don't think Steph is as great a player as the fanboys make him out to be. If you ask me Steph or Harden, I pick Harden all day.

He could be a superstar in the right situation similar but not to the extent as harden when he got his own team.

    Top 15 player.

    Uh no.
He's a star in the league not a superstar and wouldn't be even if KD or Steph weren't on the team to get some of his shots.

First you might also want to share your definition of superstar too.

my definition of a superstar --

    1. Scoring (i.e., can drop 30 pts on ~20 shots)
    2. Create plays
    3. Clutchness
    4. Defense

i admit, Klay is never known for creating plays for his team, but he definitely doesn't get as many chances to do this for his team. playing behind KD, Steph, and even Dray for the most part.

all because people think he has no handles.

People are obsessed with Jordan, they think to be a superstar you need to be the one creating all your shots.

Thompson isn't better than Harden, but he is a legit superstar in his own right. Sure he won't do **** if he has a crappy team around him, but lots of players can't carry teams on their own like Wade or Kobe and they were still superstars.

Thompson is a superstar because he is consistently an elite shooter and isn't a defensive liability. This combo of consistency and defense is rare enough in the league that he can be considered a superstar already, just look at Ryan Anderson and what a pos he is in comparison.

Like another poster said he is probably in the top 15-20 rank, which makes him a superstar or star depending on your definition.

No. Not even debatable IMO. Klay benefits from playing off of Steph (and now KD). Without a superstar to attract attention and a very creative system full of unselfish players, he wouldn't be nearly as efficient on offense.

All that said, he is an all-time greater shooter who brings his lunch pail on defense every single game.

I'll give Klay this: He's probably the best 3 and D player in NBA history.

No player's reputation benefits more from being a 2nd or 3rd option like Klay Thompson.

People completely gloss over his bad games, and prop up his good games, and use his good games as an example of how he's a superstar.

There was a game earlier this year where Curry and Durant were out and he looked very average.

He's completely dependent on the offensive scheme and players around that can get him the ball to create good looks for him.

Real superstars can get theirs no matter who is the coach and no matter who the players around him are.

He's not a great 1 on 1 player, Not a great playmaker, and I'm willing to bet his defense would suffer if put in a larger role throughout an 82 game season as well.

Are you crazy??? Klay is a nice role player, but not a star. Gerald green on that Warriors team would be better than Klay

Apparently you can watch the game and not have a clue.

How can we weed out people if those that watch the game have opinions that are equally uninformed compared to people that have never seen a basketball game? We're running out of options.

He is a super role player. I'd love to have him on my team.

He's a better version of Harrison Barnes
At least Harrison is trying on his own
Klay is ok with being Geordi . . or Riker . . . won't ever sit the big chair

    My definition of a Superstar:

A player who CAN/CAN POTENTIALLY be the best player on a title team considering the current Warriors squad.

    Aka:

    LeBron
    Durant
    Kawhi
    Harden
    Curry
    Embiid
    AD

Those are the only superstars in the NBA in my mind.

Nah I classify by superstar (elite, top 5), all star (almost elite to very very good, top 20) and star (very very good, top 30)

By my criteria, Klay is a borderline all star who makes the cut because GSW wins all the time and some guys have been injured.

    1) LBJ
    2) Durant
    3) Harden
    4) Kawhi
    5) Curry
    6) Westy
    7) CP3
    8) Davis
    9) Kyrie
    10) Donkey
    11) Giannis
    12) Embiid (if healthy he's at 8)
    13) Porzingis
    14) Wall
    15) Towns
    16) Cousins
    17) Gasol
    18) PG
    19) Dame
    20) Klay

    Injured: IT, Conley

    ---

Butler, Love, Beal, Kemba, LMA, Gordon, Melo, Simmons, Dipo, Booker etc may all be better than him.

Lmao , OP is drinking that Charles Barkley koolaid.

Klay is a really good second best player and an insanely good 3-4 best guy .

But he lacks the ability to create for himself or others and that alone precludes him from being a superstar . Now , his defense is also good . But it's not otherworldly . He isn't an elite athlete ...and if he had to expend as much energy on the offensive end as main players his defense would fall off .

Klay is a top 40 player and a top 5 shooter , but superstar he is not .

Is Klay better than Eric Gordon offensively and defensively?
