I’m not expecting anything to get done. I’m also not expecting Correa to maximize his earnings while minimizing his risk- most people don’t understand those factors correctly and don’t price risk into their decision making.
Let’s do a thought exercise here and pretend Correa never plays again- his total (pretax earnings) will be about 15-20 for his career. Pay the irs and he’s under 10. I’m sure he’s spent money figuring way more is coming in. I’d be pretty surprised if he has liquid cash of more than $3,000,000. Let’s pretend it’s 5 or 7 million. That’s not money to live a baller lifestyle for life. That’s kicking off $200 or $250k for life on interest and investments. Not bad, but not set for life. This next contract matters a lot for him, I can guarantee it does. He has a choice between risk minimization or chasing every last dollar. I’m simply suggesting that he secure the bag first at the cost of some maximization of future earnings and freedom to ply his trade anywhere he wants at 26 vs 29 or something like that. It’s his life he gets to choose whatever he wants and gets to deal for good or ill with that decision.
If it were me I’d work to take worst case off the table- and if I were the Astros I’d work to leverage my advantages over his. He has but 1 career. I’ve got $210 million a year to spend.

The Correa thing is topical bc for all we know he either has a hangnail or is likely to require traction for the rest of his life both scenarios are updated the same way by the Astros.

Correa has had approximately 21 WAR in his career over 5 seasons. No I don't think that is worth $150,000,000 in value personally.

I think he is an elite player when he is healthy and playing...... but he isn't worth much when he is smiling in the dugout..... he is going to have missed over 175 games the last three seasons.

    Smiles don't knock in runs.

Let's just hope he is healthy for the post season and next season. When he is actually healthy, he is a Hall of Fame type player.

His defense is probably more important to this year's Astros team's chances of winning a title vs. his offense.

How? Fisher for Biagini and the prospect was a good trade for both sides. Sanchez was always gravy.

Yeah that slash line of Fisher's with Toronto is blowing this trade out of the water. Stupid Luhnow.

Looks like I was right. Glad they are playing Tucker at right and he is stepping up to the opportunity.

So Yuli is down. Day to day with a hamstring. Hopefully he comes back by the last week of the year to get some timing.

Yep. Nice timing for George to go down with the 2 GB-heavy starters coming up (even they combined for 4 ****ing innings). Glad Tucker's hitting a bit, glad they didn't take Reddick out of the lineup.

If Hinch rolls that defensive OF out there again this series, JV or Cole might go Kevin Brown on the clubhouse restroom.

Much more likely to play Tucker, and this lineup, at MMP... regardless of who is pitching.

Does that mean McHugh is done for the year ? Man peacock and pressely will make the bullpen sooo much better. If McHugh could have come back then we could have kissed rondon and Devo good bye for playoffs unless there was a blow out
