I do think Obama's pragmatism for "healing the nation" by not criminalizing Bush's cabinet left an extremely sour taste in everyone's mouth when it came to Government Confidence. Republicans, who run on a platform consisting on Starving Beasts and Bureaucratic Nightmares, were given blank checks to **** on Agencies they were tasked to operate and enforce. As the rats were evicted, the **** stains and gnaw marks remained, thus convincing Conservative voters that Large Governments truly couldn't run efficiently and were regulatory nightmares. If we don't criminalize and prosecute everything that has and will be done after Trump's vacated (assuming Czar Obama doesn't invoke his foreign powers of an Eternal Presidency), I'm pretty sure the lack of punishment and official record will reinforce corrupt and kleptocratic behavior until the nation goes bust.
Does this mean we get to move on from Benghazi or Mueller investigation or whatever witch hunt is going on at the moment?
Are we going to benghazi? Trump is corrupt on 10 different fronts. Paying off p*rn stars. Colluding. Nepotism. Kick backs at his club etc.. This guy might be more corrupt than nixon and you are cool with it. You just keep going back to Benghazi or Clinton pedo pizza or some other random thing.
Pelosi's caution on impeachment upsets the progressives in the party: https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...5b8d80a1e4f_story.html?utm_term=.2f3b71fded66
And perhaps not even "no impeachment", but instead, focus more on winning 2020 (both presidency and congress) and *if* there is clear proof that would result in a good chance that the needed number of republican senators would also vote to impeach, then step up impeachment talk. Politically its the right position for Democrats... relieves the congressional candidates from having to run on "impeachment" and allows the investigators to focus on their work without political pressure. Also takes away republican and trump talking points. Impeachment is such a serious step... involves the idea that people who voted for trump will lose that vote. So it should have clear, almost overwhelming proof of crimes that call for impeachment. But the possibility of impeachment is still there, and Pelosi and the Democrats can always turn to it if the evidence is there. So better to let Mueller, congressional and state investigations do their things.
I will give credit when its due and pelosi is right this time. The radical freshwomen might not agree but they arent as experienced as Nancy.
Which was kind of the point. Notice Pelosi had this interview published in the WAPO instead of just a hallway reporter of Congress. This decision to go public against the grain of the more outspoken (right wing obsessed) members of her own party, and get it in front of the new cycle was purely tactical. If something bad is truly coming whether it be from Mueller, or SDNY that could potentially move Republicans, its ultimately her decision to start the process, and she needs all the political capital she can get to be able to say "I'm not in favor, and have never been in favor of impeachment... this is not because we are upset about 2016. We never wanted this". Plus... 2020 is already in play, and the Democrats need to remember how they won seats in 2018. HR1, Healthcare, etc. need to be highlighted more in the day to day media conversations about the Dems right now. They need to beat that drum more right now to stay locked in, and let the process play itself out with the finding w. Mueller, SDNY, House Intel, etc. When you find something that might actually move Republicans, then you make the calculation to move on a public case for removing Trump. I've gained alot more respect for Nancy P. over the past few months that's for sure. She's a pro at this stuff, and knows what the hell she's doing.
Although I agree with no impeachment at this very point in time, I don't agree with her reasoning. I noticed somewhat of a pattern... The Democrat are too afraid to do the right thing. The Republican aren't afraid to do the wrong thing.
Pretty much all of trumps campaign including his son where at the Russian summit, but he didn't know anything about it?
Smart. The thing is, probably mentioned as it's pretty obvious what she's doing here, but she can't get impeachment today. It's not her call to make. It's Mitch's and the rest of the GOP Senate. If Mueller's report comes out before Trump's term ends and it is damning then perhaps the GOP Senate will finally cut ties with Trump.

At this point, due to the evidence laid out in the report, Congress has the responsibility to move for impeachment. Even if Republicans in the Senate vote it down, at least they'll be on the record and judged by history. Politically speaking, if Trump wins reelection, the GOP probably retains control of the Senate, so there's no point in waiting. Democrats will only appear weaker at the election for failing to do the right thing, and rightfully so. Do the right thing by your country, Congress. Fulfill your constitutional obligation and impeach this unfit POTUS.
